Anyone watch last night's episode, which was a follow on from the previous weeks episode? The standard of acting in these programmes is unbelieveable and, for all I rant on about Scandinavian programmes, just as good and probably better. Still feeling raw from last week's episode I'm cut to bits today. Hope the first episode [which I missed] is still on iplayer.

crimson, I watched both programmes and thought the acting was brilliant. John Bishop's turning out to be a good actor, isn't he?

Yes, I'm so mpressed by the standard of these dramas. This is what we want on TV, not reality shows.

I was overwhelmed when I watched last weeks episode; I know of two people who lost mothers at a young age; both different circumstances but many things that happened in that episode mimicked things that had happened to them, even though they appeared far fetched. As for John Bishop; well, wow. The S.O. raved about him when he did that charity event a while ago, even without knowing him you get the vibe that he's a totally decent bloke. He seemed a strange choice of actor, or so I thought before I watched it. I knew the girl who played the prison warder was a good actress [she was brilliant in Bleak House, but I've seen her in a few things since and wasn't so impressed], but last night's performance crippled me. Thanfully the Sean Bean episode is still on iplayer so I can catch up with it. These programmes are emotional torture in the guise of entertainment but I wouldn't miss them for anything. The Street was equally as good, although they did throw in a touch of comedy amongst the pathos. Great stuff! One thing did confuse me about last night's episode, though, but I won' tmention it yet in case anyone hasn't watched it [it's to do with last week's ending which didn't correlate with last night's programme].

I missed these, but will watch on catch up. We watched The Last Weekend which got weirder and weirder ... (sorry bit off topic). But then Blake Morrison books can be a bit odd. Or to me they are anyway. Then I am always fed up with myself afterwards for having spent 3 hours of my precious time which I can't get back - hoping it would improve, or thinking I've watched this far so must persevere. Gr.

I thought it was very good, but it gave me early morning nightmares. It was a bit too real. hmm

crimson I was left wondering whether the father was still with the horrible new wife/girlfriend.

I watched the first episode of The Last Weekend but found it a bit frenetic so gave up. Little things in programmes like this annoy me eg they take a dog with them but then they go out for the evening and I'm thinking 'who's looking after the dog'. And stuff like that. J; that's what I didn't get; there was no sign of her in court, was there? And the father seemed in good health which wasn't what we were led to believe in last weeks episode.

I know a few people who watched the first episode then gave up on 'The Last Weekend.' hmm

I didn't! I loved it - although I thought it ended with a whimper rather than a bang....
