Dallas is coming back in September on Channel 5. I shall be watching it. Will any other GNs?

Marelli Mon 20-Aug-12 09:28:53

No, no, no,no! I cannot stand programmes like that! That's just me, though.....confusedsmile

JO4 Mon 20-Aug-12 09:43:57

Definitely!!!!!!!

Loved Dallas. Can it possibly be the same though?

I used to watch it with my elder daughter (who has long left home now). At the end of each episode we used to say we would sit there all week and do nothing else until the next episode came on. grin

Happy days.

I had to leave halfway through one episode because my son was about to be born. Bad timing that.

Last time I saw Larry Hagman on a TV chat show he looked about 100. He isn't is he?
A mistake to bring back old shows in new clothes.

Annobel Mon 20-Aug-12 10:46:52

Turns out he's merely 81. The photos on wiki are either very old ones or heavily air-brushed.

I'll have to have a look I loved the first dallas. when it came onto our TV we hadnt seen anything like it before- love tales of the rich doing daft things!!!

Anagram Mon 20-Aug-12 11:45:25

I stopped watching it when Bobby Ewing came back to life.
I'll probably watch the first episode, just out of interest!

I shall watch the first episode too, just to see what it is like. I think the storylines will revolve around the younger generation, I saw John Ross in the trailer. I can't help hoping that I will not be impressed, there are far too many TV programmes I enjoy already!
I started watching the original shows when there was all the 'who shot J.R?' fuss, and became hooked. I liked Dynasty too.

I've just seen Patrick Duffy on "This Morning" with two of the younger cast,he has certainly aged better thaan Larry Hagman but Hagman has been very ill and has made a good recovery bless him,I loved the programme first time around all big hair and even bigger shoulder pads grin

I never saw any of the original series and a second generation version doesn't appeal either. I increasingly find myself giving up a wide range of television programmes part way through or not bothering to watch in the first place.

Poor old absent. sad

POGS Mon 20-Aug-12 16:47:45

Oh yes.

If only for the fact is will take me down memory lane.

Never used to go out until Dallas had finished. No D.V.D.'s then. I think they all look brilliant for their age, quite sickening, I sure don't.

Annobel Mon 20-Aug-12 17:27:39

POGS, if you lived the privileged life of these showbiz stars, you too could be groomed up to the nines or your publicity appearances! Oh and you'd probably be encouraged to live on lettuce to keep that size 0 shape.

POGS Mon 20-Aug-12 18:01:48

Annobel.

Very true. I read today lettuce can harbour E.Coli so I feel justifed in giving it a daily miss.

Dallas was light entertainment though wasn't it, who knows perhaps the shoulder pads, dangly earings will return. Or was that another series?

Anagram Mon 20-Aug-12 18:04:00

Dynasty, perhaps?

POGS Mon 20-Aug-12 18:11:10

Anagram. blush

Anagram Mon 20-Aug-12 18:13:13

I wasn't being funny, POGS - I wasn't sure myself! grin

Ella46 Mon 20-Aug-12 19:46:31

Are you saying I should have given up my shoulder pads and dangly earrings?blush shock

Anagram Mon 20-Aug-12 19:53:33

What? Why? I haven't done....confused

Annobel Mon 20-Aug-12 20:01:30

Dallas and Dynasty both made shoulder pads and big earrings trendy. Sue-Ellen and Alexis Colby - how could we forget them?

HildaW Wed 22-Aug-12 15:04:29

Was definately into Dallas in its first few years - it got a bit silly later. However, it was of its time and I've moved on ( a lot older and a bit wiser) so am not sure. Might just give it a go for old times sake.
