A thoroughly gripping drama. Superb acting. Haven't looked forward to Tuesday night viewing so much in ages.

Silverbirch Wed 11-Jul-12 15:37:05

Yes I was completely gripped toox

greenmossgiel Wed 11-Jul-12 15:40:29

Very good! The placing of the glass so that it ended up in the police canteen...very clever! wink

Ella46 Wed 11-Jul-12 15:44:38

Yes! Just watched it as I forgot last night and watched CSI instead!

It is very good, and well cast except for Neil Morrissey, I don't think he's right at all.

greenmossgiel Wed 11-Jul-12 15:55:04

I agree, Ella - and how could a policeman with a walking stick be able to be involved in an 'armed response' situation confused?

soop Wed 11-Jul-12 16:25:48

With difficulty green smile

Anagram Wed 11-Jul-12 16:31:17

It might be a loaded walking stick.....hmm

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 16:58:28

Or a sword stick? I think theyre illegal!

I thought it a little slow to begin with, but am getting well into it now. I`m another who thinks that Neil Morrissey is mis-cast.

Silverbirch Wed 11-Jul-12 20:14:07

I think Neil Morrissey is miscast too and agree a policeman with a walking stick would never be part of an armed response situation. Very clever stuff about the glass ending up in staff canteen yes!

One of those series where it's impossible to like anyone in the cast! Wonder how it will all be resolved this week. I really enjoyed other series by Jed Mercurio, particularly "Bodies".

Something worth watching at last during mid-week.

Really enjoying this too apart from the throat slitting it gave me a bad dream!

HildaW Wed 25-Jul-12 14:13:24

My husband enjoyed this but I honestly found it nasty and so full of cliches. It reminded me of all those silly 'compositions' I used to do at school where I had got carried away with the story and could not finish it in time so would put 'and then I woke up'. Was not a patch on the amazing series last year with Antony Sher and Rafe Spall - Shadowline?.

PRINTMISS Wed 25-Jul-12 16:13:12

I thought it was a great story, and I have a horrible feeling that it might have a little truth in it. Watching 'The Killing' tonight, and that as far as I can see is the last of the decent thrillers on t.v. for a little while. All Olympics now, we recorded quite a lot of films which looked to be half decent, so that if the weather is bad we can at least have something to watch other than a sport we are not interested in. Having said that we shall probably get caught up in everything that is happening.

HappyNanna Wed 25-Jul-12 16:17:55

Really enjoyed it - superb acting and a great story line. However, thought the ending was totally unsatisfactory.

Ella46 Wed 25-Jul-12 16:19:04

I thought this last episode was very disappointing, and a bit confusing too.
Was it supposed to be based on a true situation?
Bit of an anticlimax.

soop Wed 25-Jul-12 16:45:20

Ella I believe so. The acting was very good, especially the young gang member. At the end, I pitied Tony Gates. He'd made a right balls-up of his life. His family loved him. I felt that he loved them too. Perhaps he felt that there was no way back into their affections.

merlotgran Wed 25-Jul-12 17:29:57

I've just realised how late The Killing is on tonight, PRINTMISS. I'll be falling asleep at 11.40 so I might have to watch it on Catch Up sad

gracesmum Wed 25-Jul-12 19:33:35

A very pessimistic and cynical end to the series though - doesn't add to our confidence in the police, does it? Viz other thread on "thug in police uniform"

PRINTMISS Wed 25-Jul-12 19:54:44

meriotgran, why not record The Killing? I always record it because I go to bed at about 10 30 p.m. There are quite a few good programmes on later all of which get recorded, if we don't catch up, we just delete them.
