I don't like his political beliefs, but I have to admit that William Roache looks very good - hard to believe he is 80. I do like the character of Ken Barlow and it was fascinating to see how he has looked over the past 52 years.
Des O'Connor is another 80-year old who is still looking good. Perhaps having much younger partners is the secret .

I often see Bill Roache out shopping (at close quarters!) and believe me he looks fantastic. His hair is thick and silky and he has a bum to die for! wink

Don't you think he is a bit creepy and revolting with all his revelations?

Very, altho' I missed most of them!

I don't know the actor, I like the character. He did try to stop the egregious Piers Morgan going on and on about his former sexual exploits.
I think it might be the thick head of hair that makes him look good. I have never found baldness attractive, although I know some very good looking men are follically challenged!
I have watched Coronation Street from Day 1, apart from the years when I was living abroad, which were pre-computer days. They have covered so many really diffcult subjects - of course I do know that the inhabitants of that bit of Salford are 76 times more likely to die a violent death than elsewhere in the UK! According to some of the soft Southerners who have had to move to the new BBC centre there, it is a lawless place.
I grew up there and hated it - I was thrilled when we were given a council house about 12 miles away. It has been cleaned up, with the lovely Georgian town houses of The Crescent sand-blasted back to their original cream colour and the old cotton warehouses turned into very expensive loft apartments. I believe there are fish in the Irwell - my grammar school was on its banks and we were told that if we fell in we would have to have our stomachs pumped because it was toxic.
I don't know how they find their child actors but some of them have been outstanding - Ches and Simon spring to mind. The producers of The Archers should ask for advice, as all their child actors speak with RADA accents.

I think he is very full of himself and smug!

Is he so insecure he has to tell the world he's slept with 1,000 women? Who cares? Also doesn't he have a couple of actor sons - they must be mortified. Silly old fool.

What in real life? I thought in Corrie! Also I may be uncharitable but thought he got over his wife's sudden death rather quickly....? Also his visions of the "afterlife"....good for him if he believes in it, to me it sounds like a lot of airy fairey stuff...hmm

Greatnan Sat 14-Apr-12 14:25:07

As an arch unbeliever, I found his spiritual stuff a load of rubbish. His sons both appeared on the show and appeared to think very highly of him.
As for finding a new partner after three years, I would have thought that showed how much he had enjoyed being married and how much he missed his wife. Is there a fixed time for grieving?

However, I repeat....I like his character in the programme, not the actor.

He may not of lasted the time he has if he had not decided to stay in Coronation Street it has certainly kept him in comfort for all of his acting career,I think he came across as being very permiscuious ?(spell) in the interview and the refusal to discuss the amount of women he had slept with has proved the point to me anyway.I must agree that he looks good for his age but so do a lot of people, just look at the members of GN.grin

I love permiscious - much better than promiscuous.
I use spellcheck - I used to have no problems with spelling, but I seem to have lost some confidence with old age.

I type any word I'm unsure about in my search box - however much I've mangled it the correct version always comes up!
