We've not used Uber anywhere can members provide me with a few tips or suggestions.

I have downloaded the app that's as far as I've got.
Are they reliable when picking up.
Do you tip
What is the shared price
Is it always cheaper than using a regular taxi.
I have googled but it sounds a bit confusing to me.
