Single rooms for 2 friends travelling together abroad

Can anyone suggest a good holiday abroad in September/October for 2 females in their 60s - preferably Europe but still warm, exploring interesting places, not just sitting by the pool?? We want a room each but not with a crippling single room supplement! smile

I would recommend either Lisbon or Porto as Portugal is still a relatively cheap country to visit. Although they are good sized cities, both are very close to the sea so chance to walk along the river and sea front. Lots to see in both places but both are quite hilly so need to take that into account. Another place would be Valencia which is a bigger city with lots to see, quite flat, and the sea just a bus ride from the centre.

Barcelona is a lovely city to explore, there is also a bus route to the sea. Stay on Las Ramlas.
