Travelodge cheapies

Glastonbury TL last week was excellent too - very, very clean - though we did have to pay more - £19 instead of £15 at Eastbourne!! The starling murmurations were excellent too, & my birthday meal & a visit to Wells next day (a lovely friendly buzz about the town, & I did really well in the Ecco shop sale).

We've literally just returned from a 4 night stay in London, staying at the Travelodge on Drury Lane, Covent Garden. Brilliant location - Loads of bars and restaurants all around. Theatres within easy walking distance - Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre was just 5 mins walk away. Holborn Tube about
7-8 mins walk. The room was spotlessly clean if very basic. If we go again I would definitely stay at this hotel. About £55 a room per night. You can't get better.

I think you do have to choose locations carefully - I would avoid those by motorways. We just take cereal & some rolls for breakfast though the Eastbourne one did have a cafe. The cheapness meant we could afford to eat out well the night before. I only use them for one or two night 'bonus' breaks & not for proper holidays or celebratory occasions. Having said that, we were going down to the Somerset levels to see the starling roosts just for a day for my birthday on Friday but now we've booked another very cheap night at the Glastonbury Travelelodge so we can visit old friends the next day. We haven't come across a bed bug yet but we have had some pretty awful nights in much more expensive B&Bs & hotels.

A couple of years ago some friends of ours managed to get us a night in a Travelodge when we all went away together for something like £8 a night. I can't remember the finer details to elaborate on just how it turned out to be that cheap This particular hotel was just outside Cardiff and if I remember rightly it had a car park on a slight slope with loads of lorries just outside our window. Being a worst case scenario sort of person I spent all night hoping and praying that they had their hand brakes on! We had trouble finding the hotel and went into a Premier Inn which was nearby for directions which they happily gave us but added "if you start to itch in the middle of the night, maybe you should come back here and try one of our rooms!"

We use Travelodge or Premier Inn. Both have good offers. We're staying in the Heathrow Central Travelodge at the end of January. My mum is coming back from Australia hence Heathrow but actually it's only a tube ride to central London. So we're having a day sightseeing too. Two nights dinner, bed and breakfast for two people... £110. Not bad for London.

Holiday Inn Express for me - good bedrooms, breakfast included, clean, well run and good value at £45 per room.

Good value! We also like Premier Inns - not quite as cheap, but their beds are among the most comfortable I have ever slept in (including a Vi-Spring mattress at The George in Rye) They may not have the charm of a country house hotel or a boutique hotel in town, but with one digit less in the price I know I am getting a clean room, a good shower, a comfy bed, a hairdryer and (mostly) parking for the car.
Your trip to London nanej sound perfect! We once stayed at the one further along the South Bank so that we could go the The Globe and it was ideal. Breakfast was in the pub next door overlooking the Thames and it was lovely not to have to struggle back to Euston for the last train home We met DD and SisIL at Tate Modern the next day for lunch and felt we made the most of the night away.

We usually stay there nanaej, its very handy.

We were looking at Travelodges in Hammersmith as DH bought me a day's gf cookery course at Prue Leith's for my birthday. We decided to stay overnight to be sure to be there on time. I could gave gone on my own but DH thought he'd come and have the day with DD2 and DGD2. He's not besotted you know!! The hotel prices were good but none of them did breakfast.

Sounds good.. we are paying a bit more (£99 per room) for a night in London at the Premier Inn opposite Westminster by old County Hall. Have Theatre tickets Thurs & Fri so will spend Fri at some exhibitions etc. Could have come home in between but like a day or two in town!
