Dresses without a defined waist

I think the dresses that look fabulous on Esme are more of a cocoon shape, like a shift but with a wider waist and tapering slightly to the bottom. I make my own clothes and have several of this style and they are very comfortable to wear, especially in this hot weather. They have short grown-on sleeves so no tight sleeve seams to irritate either.

Maybe some of the other posters have seen this type of dress in the shops or online and can give you a pointer...?

Have you tried an empire line! Fitted until below the bust line. They often have a sash to tie at the back. I wear these a lot as I have a big tummy

I’m wearing a Seasalt dress as we speak. It’s in organic cotton and is basically a shift with short sleeves and pockets.

As I have no defined waist myself that is exactly the sort of dress I have been looking for with no success so it’s still trousers and loose tops for me.

Loved the drop waists when they were the fashion. Of course I was very slim back then.

I have always bought seasalt dresses but without a waistband, as I am tall and it’s always too high (even if I buy from the tall range).

This year quite a lot of designs have a waistline and are in the sale and I am wondering if I am not alone and the waisted dresses haven’t sold.

Usually if they are called a shift dress they have no waistline.

However their clothing is very good quality fabric.

Try Seasalt. I have some of their waistless dresses. They have lovely fabrics too. You could also look for a shirt dress and not wear the belt.Hope you find something
