Victoria Starmer, especially, and Giorgia Meloni both chose well for the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bians in sweltering temperatures.
Brigitte Macron looks a bit stiff, but smart as usual, imo.

Merci for the update MartavTaurus I think that VS is wearing a very charming dressing gown and the butter yellow trouser suit worn by GM is another Showaddywaddy outfit.
Zut alors!

Haha 😁
I definitely felt 'our two' got the most enthusiastic welcomes. He is very good looking!

Surely she should just be herself M0nica. She isn’t a politician, or a coat hanger wife, she is an independent woman. I’m not keen on her dress either, but I’m glad she doesn’t model herself on somebody else.

As an aside, why does Macron always manage to look cool, when we’ve never had a PM who possesses that skill?

I said nothing about _modellimg her self on others, heaven forfend, but she could consider how others her build dress and look and see if there is anything she could incorporate into her style.

One of the features of people who always dress well and for the occasion, is that they are always looking and learning from other people. In fact isn't that what anyone who likes to look presentable does?

I preferred the brown linen traveling outfit to the dress but that's just me. What I will say is from the video the Starmers were greeted with what appeared to be genuine warmth and enthusiasm by the Macrons, which can only be good for our relationship with France and by association the rest of the EU. Another reason to stick with Starmer?

So we have to stick with Starmer ‘cos he gets on with Le Macrons? 😂
Good job this is a light amusing thread.

That's why the French often call MM "le charmeur" or "séducteur" Rosie51. !!

I am not sure but Lady Starmer's dress up dress is even worse than the one she was wearing when she got off the plane.

Once again the dress is too large for her, while you could make a bell tent for a whole pack of boy scouts out of the skirt. It looks a bit 'ethnic' and is more for wafting through woodlands thinking beautiful thoughts than accompanying the Prime MInister on an important visit.

LadyStarmer is tall and willowy, like the Princess of Wales. She should study how she dresses.

MartavTaurus Tue 16-Jun-26 15:33:21

Casdon is right in that Victoria Starmer's brown trouser suit was the one she stepped off the plane wearing. She did a quick change into the white (cream?) dress for the posed greetings photos with the Macrons. I think Giorgia Meloni wore the same outfit? And today she wore a different trouser suit in buttery yellow for the traditional G7 group photo where the other wives were obviously not present.
PS I'm lifting these photos from French rags, so hope they show up.

Afraid I don’t like the cream suit it looks way way too big for her and the trousers are so long they are covering her shoes which looks like a real trip hazard She must be boiling in it too
I like Mrs Macron s outfit, she always stands as if she has arthritis in her neck
Mrs Starmer s looks better but a very dark and rather a dull colour for mid summer

There you go my critique for what it’s worth 🤣

Victoria Starmer is Lady Starmer and shouldn’t we say Madame Macron?
Mrs in both cases just grates.

MawsRosieis that comment absolutely necessary?

Obviously I thought it was ,out of courtesy to the ladies in question. hmm

SueDonim Tue 16-Jun-26 13:36:05

At least Lady Starmer shops where ordinary people shop. grin tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc147502486 They have the matching jacket, too.

M0nica Tue 16-Jun-26 13:15:04

Oversized suits are currently highly fashionable. That is why one of the women is wearing one.

But like any fashion you need to consider whether it suits you. In this case, unfortunately, not.

Casdon Tue 16-Jun-26 12:09:35

I’ve just watched the video of the official photos being taken for the G7, and realised that Victoria Starmer is wearing a different outfit, the one photographed on the thread is her travelling outfit. I can’t find a photo of her dress, but it’s on this YouTube video, it’s white with red embroidery.

I am afraid I don't like any of those outfits.
Lady Starmer looks too casual and Madame Macron looks very stiff. The white trouser suit is too big and swamps her.

3 pairs of floppy trousers in my case for wearing in Puglia from Thursday onwards- lovely and cool and cover my cornbeef legs.

SueDonim Tue 16-Jun-26 10:23:10

I’ll be disagreeable, Oreo. grin I think Georgio Meloni looks best of a bad bunch. As noted, a smaller size would suit her better.

Mme Macron seems to be dressed for the wrong season and I want to play noughts and crosses on that outfit. Lady S looks like she’s just got out of bed or is about to go to the dump!

SpinDriftCoastal Tue 16-Jun-26 08:15:17

I have just traded in my wide legged linen cropped trousers for a pair of tailored Capri pants.

Oreo Tue 16-Jun-26 08:15:05

After now reading all posts it seems like for once we may agree on something 😂

Actually that’s about my critique as well.VS would have looked a tad more Summery in a lighter colour but she looks fashionable and comfortable.
GM looks wrong, if you’re wearing wide trousers then the suit top looks better shorter and more tailored.
BM looks smart and chic but a tad too formal.

M0nica Tue 16-Jun-26 08:07:53

No brown in town. It was considered a country colour, that should stay in thee country

Complete nonsense these days. I wear a lot of brown, simply because it is a colour that suits me and flatters my sallow complexion. I never wear black, it looks as if I am attending my own funeral.

Macaydia Tue 16-Jun-26 08:02:10

There used to be a saying about those who wear brown but it was so long ago and I have gotten too old to remember it.

M0nica Tue 16-Jun-26 07:49:45

I think Lady Starmer looks far too casually dressed, given that Sir Keir is in full suit and tie.

As for the oversized suit. Yes, it is at the cutting point of fashion, but with fashion, you need to consider whether it actually suits you. In this case I am afraid it doesn't suit the woman in it. It makes her look dumpy, which I do not think she is.

Madame Macron has a very distinctive style, that generally ignores the latest twist of fashion. She is dressed in her usual style. Personally I think her skirt is too short, but as I said she has a distinctive style and sticks to it.

NotSpaghetti Tue 16-Jun-26 07:32:57

I think both trouser suits could be better. The cream is just wrong on her.
Nobody really cares though do they?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 16-Jun-26 07:20:38

I think the cream trouser suit looks way too big all round and very over heated for the weather
And in my thoughts brown is not a summer colour at all
My opinion and they are welcome to come here and pull my outfits to bits if hey want 🤣

There is a lot of brown around this summer, from sundresses, tops, swimwear to raffia bags.

I do agree it is unusual for a summer colour obviously the designers think
differently 🤷‍♀️
