I am looking for trainers to wear with jeans and dresses. Preferably white. , not too chunky and not too expensive. Up to £80 for comfort, Any recommendations, have you bought any recently ?

Superga do a nice plain white leather trainer

Amalegra Mon 07-Mar-22 13:43:48

Each to their own I know but I always rather resent paying large sums of money for such clumsy looking footwear! Sensible, I know, when walking (but boots are nicer!) and essential for some sports ( don’t do any!) and also essential apparently for wearing these days with floaty dresses as well as jeans! I have a few pairs but don’t look forward to replacing them like my daughters do. Prefer a nice pair of low pumps for comfort or heels for a dressy look (even with jeans-so retro now!), thank heavens I can still walk in them!

I love Nike Air Force 1. So comfortable and if you are a size 5 and under, you buy from the childrens range.
Also Nike Vision Low are good too and are currently reduced to £42 at sports direct.

I don't like trainers at all, most especially white ones with dresses! I think they look big and clompy. Also, many years ago, I found that trainers come too high at the back and they tend to dig into my Achilles tendon so I simply never wear them. I do like converse type lace-ups but I get mine from Sainsbury's at £9 a pair. I use a VIVEsole half insoles inside them because they are very flat.

I'm such a mucky Madame I can't keep trainers white for long so prefer black or bright colours to go with what I'm wearing.

I've just bought some white skechers for holiday. They're my go to brand for comfort and style. I have black for work and a gorgeous brick orange pair.

Totally agree SnowberryZ. I like these. Stylish, comfortable and versatile. Cost £22.00 smile

I have some white Superga trainers but don’t find them very comfortable - they are a bit heavy. My favourite ones are white leather Keds which I got about 4 years ago for around £40, I think. They are less chunky than most trainers but look good with either jeans or a dress. They are very comfortable and don’t rub on bare feet,

Love trainers from...PAVERS....always lots of choice and comfy to wear all day when out walking....Last pair cost me £39.99....

Alioop Mon 07-Mar-22 14:25:45

Have a look at Pavers. They start from around £40 and come in all colours.

Happypie I like those shoes. Where are they from please?

crazygranny Mon 07-Mar-22 14:46:20

Fit flops. Comfort and style plus 20% off for a first order!

Mummer Mon 07-Mar-22 15:41:29

Best trainers I bought are beige ish with metallic leather trim and very tastefully fashioned, unfortunately they were bought in Berlin but I did have some great leather Reebok very slimline and non ' bulky'. I'd be very careful withs white you could look typically grannyish and a bit 'does she want a drink?' ish!!!!!!

Apart from when playing tennis when I was younger I have never worn trainers or white shoes either.

Missiseff Mon 07-Mar-22 15:57:39

Love mine! Ted Baker, last Summer

I also second VEGA’s. I find them super comfortable. They are also still v trendy and age-appropriate for us too. The distinctive sloping “V” on them will mark you out as an on-trend gran lol ! They are also made of sustainable leather but beware the vegan ones obviously if you want actual leather.
SuperGa also the same - comfortable and trendy.
Agree totally with Clarks, Sketchers etc being v comfortable…. But if you want to be on-trend and comfortable, I’m afraid they won’t do haha!

Juicylucy Mon 07-Mar-22 19:16:53

Gazelles by adidas trendy and look lovely with dresses. Around £50

Bijou Mon 07-Mar-22 19:56:27

I now try not to buy anything from China

lizzypopbottle Mon 07-Mar-22 20:52:05

I think I read* (on line, this morning) that 75% of all shoes and trainers are made in China. Most New Balance trainers are produced in the USA.

lizzypopbottle Mon 07-Mar-22 20:53:31

Bijou same here regarding white shoes.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 07-Mar-22 21:01:04

Not for me! I'd feel as though I was going to play tennis or just been to PT at school!

swampygirl58 Tue 08-Mar-22 00:53:09

I wouldn't dream of paying £80 for pair of trainers. Not even £50. Just because they're a designer brandmdoesn't always mke them a better buy. You're only paying over the odds for the name.

Lucca Tue 08-Mar-22 04:09:53

I.m actually NOT paying for a name.I’ve had ecco shoes which I’ve worn so much and for so many years, and had such comfortable wear from that they are far better value than cheaper ones. They were silver ones but I’ve got some off white ones now.

BlueBelle Tue 08-Mar-22 06:31:03

Funny isn’t it £85 is the ‘not expensive’ range for most people on here !!!
Not just the grandkids generation that fall into the ‘name’ clothes and shoes, just different names
I love my trainers of all shapes and sizes and colours but from the charity shop and I can hear you all going
‘ugh she wears shoes that other people feet have been in oh how could she’ well I m still alive I have good feet and never caught anything yet I m always complemented on my clothes and shoes little do they know
