What chop?

I'm in the same boat at the moment but will leave it until after Christmas to try out my new look. I'm thinking of having my hair cut much shorter than my usual style, possibly going for a Judy Dench type in order to speed up the growing out of my coloured hair. If that makes sense?

I had my hair coloured honey blonde for years but then, after losing it all following chemotherapy, it grew back pure white. At first it grew naturally into a Judy Dench style but this didn't suit my face so I let it grow into my old style - a chin length bob with a layered fringe. The first thing I did was get rid of any beige clothes -too ageing. I find now that bright colours suit me best and together with more make up prevent me from disappearing into the background. If you google grey hair styles, there are lots of sites with pictures of flattering styles. I think the one to avoid is the short, curly perm!

Avoid the muted shades , embrace colour !!

I went from natural dark with auburn highlights, to dyed honey blond ( to cover the grey), to lighter blond then to my natural colour. I was surprised to find a lovely shade of platinum underneath.

Now my hairdresser puts a wash on it that lifts the colour and gives a lovely shine. I find some strong colours such as cranberry and navy are good, as well as soft blues.

I'd love my grey to look like Judy Dench.

I had mine shortened a little to help grow out the colour but am now growing it back. If a style suited you when it was coloured it still will when it is grey. You will need to wear a bit more colour not less.

ninathenana I would like my face to look like Judi Dench -as well as my hair!

PS * threesugars* do not abandon your bold colours - muted shades can look very bland with grey. Keep lots of white, especially near your face.

Yes, I love the silver hair with vibrant colours look. I've not had my highlights done for months as I thought there was enough grey/silver coming through so didn't need to. But it seems to be getting darker rather than otherwise.

This is not what I want

No I was pleased with my hair growing out at first as I had ash lowlights put in, now my hair is white on top and an ash colour underneath, which looks odd, so I think I will go back to the highlights to blend it all in. I tried a blue rinse (!) which isn't called a blue rinse any more but something like "Hawaii " I quite like that but it still clashes with the hair underneath. So I think it's back to the hairdressers.

My sister has a very muted collection of clothes and her hair is now all grey cut in a chin length bob which suits her very well she always has a bold coloured scarf tied loosely to finish off her look and always seems to look good,mine is coloured every 2/3 mths and waist length totally different to hers and piled on top with a big clip but imo it still looks tidy and up to date,I also wear big scarfs to finish off a look but in more subtle colours.Go with what you like and not worry about others think is my moto.
