I can't get my boots on!

Our local podiatrist stocks Cosyfeet, but in fact she recommended DB Widerfit Shoes to me as being more stylish.

ruby has your GP checked why your feet are swelling up? Is it something new as your boots fit you last winter?
It could be one of a number of reasons.

luluaugust I find Hotter are fine as i can pull the straps/laces tight. I used to have very narrow feet and K shoes did an A fitting. A little wider now but I cannot wear court type shoes as I just leave them behind

Luluaugust, I get my narrow fit from Medissa shoes on line they are based in Morley, Yorkshire. There is also James Inglis in Peebles. Medissa has the same shoes as Inglis but they are priced more reasonably. Medissa are very helpful and, once they have your size will ensure that different makes have the correct fitting for you.I am a 7.5 AA. I have bought a lot of shoes in America and Canada in the past they seem to cater more for narrow fits.

I left my brand new unworn Hotter pixie boots in Northumberland; only realised last night that they were nowhere to be seen [it takes me that long to unpack when I've been away ]. Thankfully a friend of ours went to the house tonight and asked the people who were staying there if they had found any shoes and, thankfully, they were in the hallway. I'm so relieved. It's been bugging me all day. Although I got them at a discounted price it was still painful to think I'd lost them. I did get them in extra wide so hopefully they'll be ok. Having tried on various shoes/boots that I haven't worn for a while I've realised that my feet have got much worse recently . The bunion, that has never really caused me too much of a bother is starting to hurt and the corn is sore when it's taken out and, by the time the soreness has gone it's grown back. #ihatemebloomin'feet

They sell DB shoes near to where I live; I'll check them out.

I have wide feet and have found Echo and Gabor shoes and boots to fit me . Both made of soft leather and comfortable but pricey.

Pavers have a good selection of boots, some in wider fittings. Spent ages in there trying on various pairs. Lady assistant was very helpful. I needed a flatish pair for work as I damaged my ankle badly earlier this year and am unable to wear even a low heel.
Left with two pairs. Had to restrain myself for buying a third pair.

Cosyfeet are good - I have bought from them for my mother and another relative who couldn't get to the shops. I have found the staff very helpful when ordering by phone. Some of the styles are very old-lady-ish, but not all of them.
I've just bought a pair of Hotter ankle boots - the most un-old ladyish they had in red. My feet don't swell, they're just 'difficult'.

Cosyfeet had a nice pair of trainers which I wish I'd bought.

I bought some Mystery boots last year, from Hotter, very comfy and they have a zip.

Me too roses!! Even managed to negotiate a "first purchase" discount (which is a joke, they know me as Mrs Marcos, but actually agreed!!)
Wondering if there is any way I could justify another pair ...

I am dyspraxic and my ligaments all relax with age so my feet get flatter and flatter. The NHS made me a pair of boots and a pair of shoes with insoles for my slippers and my sandals and long black boots which I get from www.dbshoes.co.uk/

EmilyHarburn at least you have had a diagnosis and not the brush-off!
However, I will be seeing the podiatrist soon, thank goodness for some insoles.
I had my eye on DB long boots too, need to get the insoles first though.

I haven't particularly got bunions but my big toe joints are going the same way as my knobbly thumb joints.

Why are they called 'Mystery' Boots - aren't you sure what you are getting?

perhaps they represent my permanent occasional confusion and senior moments!

Sorry to hear your feet are bad Ruby as it makes such a difference to everything doesn't it!
I don't often go out but put my boots on last week and could feel every little ridge and crease in the insoles. If you can't walk in your footwear you are truly stumped!

Thank you to all of you for your replies and for your advice on other manufacturers of shoes which might suit me, I will check them out.

I have ordered a pair of boots from Hotter, I couldn't resist as they are called "Ruby" , although in black, not red , which I would have preferred. They are a lace up so I will see how they go, still very pretty though.

It doesn't help these days getting shoes or socks etc on as my left hip seems to be paining me and I have trouble lifting my leg up far enough to get into a sock etc. Just another thing to add to the long list of ailments, it's a good job I have you lot, I'd be lost otherwise.

Evans boots are made for the larger lady. I wear their long boots for the generous calf and foot size. But watch out because a lot of their footwear is man made not leather.

synonymous I always feel every crease and bump in the insoles, and when there are seams across the top of my socks they give me blisters.

Ever since I had a pinched nerve in my spine, one foot even reports creases under the ball of my foot which are not actually there! I think there must be slight damage to the nerve which the brain interprets as a problem at the extreme end of it.

I now wear two pairs of socks, seamless or with flat seams, to cushion the skin of my feet. I bought some in Decathlon which are seamless and also have a band of ribbing round the instep, which keeps the sock from rolling up inside the shoe.
