Bought anything new in the last week?

I bought a Woolovers cashmere/merino jumper a few weeks ago. It's lovely and soft, colour bluebell. I'm very pleased with it - might get another.
I think it was 58€, which is about £40. I've bought other things from them recently.

Never heard of Woolovers- everyone seems to recommend it , will look at the site

I do look after my cashmere things, I have a little metal comb gadget that defluffs my wool. I started to buy them with the onslaught of hot flushes and never went back. Occasionally I manage to buy cashmere on ebay for just a few pounds. I buy most of my clothes there, but I do spend my birthday/xmas money on Woolovers and M&S and ask for vouchers from either, for underwear and new jumpers.

For my neighbor I bought dry dog food from pets are us. For myself I bought 2 water pistols, to stop the cats from jumping in the peat beside the fire. 1 ball of wool, to make a pom pom hat, from America, because it is free delivery. From amazon some tiny little bells, a bag of little red pompoms and some gold thread, to make a Christmas tree hat, also 3 small sea-grass drawers to hide all the bits of important junk accumulating on my computer desk

I've only just discovered this thread. It's great! Virtual retail therapy, with encouragement to go out and experience the same thing.

Now, what shall I buy?

Stansgran - 'French' knickers are also good after a hip op as they are baggy round the leg. You might find your body is slightly bloated for a while after the op, I think it is all the drugs they put into you, but don't make the mistake I made and order lots of clothes in a bigger size because you will soon return to normal! Good luck with the op, you will feel much better when it is done. I do!

Stansgran, the pull-on trousers are good after a hip op. I also recommend a gadget for getting your socks on withough bending down - mine is called 'Sock-on' and I'm hanging on to it in case the other hip gives out. Any disability shop will have something similar. High leg knickers will keep the elastic away from your scar.

I bought a couple of very nice framed pictures, one is just a photograph but the other is signed painting by a local artist.

Love your jug and plate NellieI I , it's nice to buy things just because we like them. I bought a new long blanket cardigan /wrap from Asda in warm Orange and Brown patchwork, £22.00 it's ideal for when it's too cold for just a thinish top ,but too warm for a heavy coat.

I bought 3 more Jojo Moyes books, after enjoying this month's GN book club choice. They were 1p each (used) plus joint postage of £2.99.

I didn't buy clothes. I bought a set of three 1950's side tables for £6.00 from a charity shop to "do up". Good to have a project during the winter. Am I normal!?

Updated my mobile phone on Friday. I feel more modern now.

I'm coasting towards a hip op in November so I bought some wide legged black velour pull on trousers like track suit bottoms for comfort and two short fleece dressing gowns one in beige and one in plum all from M&S . I'm not sure about tops. Anyone who has had a hip done might kindly give me advice on clothes post op. I've read the hip and knee thread. Also bought some Neutrogena rainbath which I love and don't seem to be able to get here.

I bought a big bag of assorted Hallowe'en treats for my grandsons. I'm helping my daughter move house next Friday, so a fair amount of upheaval...and we want to make sure that the boys don't miss out on the festivities...Also that their Hallowe'en outfits travel in my car, so that they're to hand...along with other essentials

Yes, the Clarin's girl queried my request for my usual moisturiser, examined my skin and advised a different one for 'mature skin' which may get rid of the age spot on my face.
It cost a fortune, but luckily I did have a voucher someone had given me which went halfway towards it!

Sometimes outlets or stores such as TK Maxx have cashmere jumpers, but you have to search. I found a nice Scottish-made one last year at Labels oh no, it's beige, well more a dark camel

I am going to browse this thread properly when I get home, going out now and feeling very frumpy.

I did, however, take a huge bag of clothes to the charity shop and about six pairs of shoes. It's a start!

I would a white Stuff jade green dress in JL yesterday and some Clarins cleanser and a new pressed powder compact - the assistant gave me some lovely freebies- she appraised me with her 25 year olds' concern for the elderly and recommended the Extra Firming Neck cream for me! .

This morning I used the M & S 20% off to order some black trousers for golf, a charcoal roll neck and some moleskins for DH.

Last week in England - a navy wool/cashmere Max Mara coat (like new) in the charity shop, 4 long t-shirts in Gap sale, socks and a colouring book.
At home in France this week - Italian wine and cheese in Lidl.

Long blue cardigan - merino/cashmere - from Woolovers. I also have a navy one. They wash well and I de-bobble them with a nifty battery-powered gadget bought from Amazon. Apart from those, I bought three small cyclamen on offer at a local garden centre and positioned them on the outside window sill of my back room.

Love the idea of clicker training the rug rats Elegran. Must try that one.

loopylou At the very least, trying to get the kittens to behave will show the DGC what it is like from the other side for their parents.

I have bought sweaters from Aliexpress.com, a sort of Chinese eBay that my son introduced me to. It's a fascinating site to browse and works well (the sweater sellers are from factories so the prices are very good and I've found the quality good too). It is a bit of a risk ordering from another country (I look for sellers with free postage to the UK and good feedback) and it takes 3 or 4 weeks for orders to arrive but, apart from my first purchase (a cheap quilted jacket) when I hadn't quite got my head around being a size XL in Chinese sizing (I'm a UK 12), I've been happy with my winter buys. I ordered one more item, a cashmere cardigan, this week but now I have to stay away from the site so I don't get tempted!
