Any tennis fans? Especially Wimbledon?

Sad to see our female number one not competing due to injury! Emma R did so well at Queens.

Still, this week we do have a number of Brits and a good few wildcards.

Will you be watching and who are you supporting?

I’ll def be watching all our girls and boys and the Williams Sisters who are playing (as wild cards) in the doubles.

Might have to turn off the volume if there is too much “grunting” on court, drives me nuts!

Especially when he says Lurrve 15!

Has anyone come across the French umpire with the really deep voice. I think his name is Kader Nouni. Forget the tennis, I just love listening to his voice.

LadyGaGa have a great day 🎾🎾

Been watching today. Sorry to see a lot of the Brits going out in first round. Will watch Katie Boulter tomorrow...I like her. And am hoping Djokovic can get one final grand slam.

I’m going with my daughter on Wednesday! I’m very excited- court number 1. It was a late ballot result so we’re not sitting together, but we’re one behind the other in aisle seats. Years ago we got centre court tickets three rows in - it was an unforgettable day. This year we have really splashed out and are collecting a Wimbledon picnic lunch, complete with wine - very expensive - but you only live once! Don’t think we’ll see any of the top players in court 1, but looking forward to seeing the schedule tomorrow.

Another Wimbledon fan here!
I plan to watch as many matches as possible.

There is every chance of a dry fortnight too!

ixion Mon 29-Jun-26 22:51:18

But not for the 10 defeated Brits, tho !

I'm trying to find out how many of these had received wild cards?

MG55 Mon 29-Jun-26 22:29:44

It has been a fabulous first day of Wimbledon!

Grandmadinosaur Mon 29-Jun-26 22:29:28

Yes great match. Wu certainly gave him a run for his money.

bridie54 Mon 29-Jun-26 22:26:05

Great match. Just sorry Wu lost.
Can’t deny Djokovic talent. Pity he wasn’t a nicer guy though.

bridie54 Mon 29-Jun-26 21:00:22

Doh! What a nana.
Just realised it’s Wu they are saying.

jusnoneed Mon 29-Jun-26 20:59:46

bridie54 they are calling out "Woooo" not booing.

bridie54 Mon 29-Jun-26 20:54:55

Am I hearing Boos from the crowd when Wu wins points?
If I am it’s just disgusting.

ixion Mon 29-Jun-26 20:36:45

Jamie Murray seems a valuable addition to the reporting team.

I’m watching and love it. I’m going to the ladies semi final this year and hope to see Sabalenka in action. I got the tickets via the LTA ballot returns, having failed in the Wimbledon ballot.

Emma was far from a disappointment at Queens! I was there for the final and she was fantastic.

Disappointed that Alcaraz wasn’t there to defend his title, I was so looking forward to seeing him.
However the final was thrilling, very long and 🔥
I’ll be watching Francisco Cerundolo with great interest in the tournament.

Oh yes! I’m definitely for tennis.
Currently watching the Wu/Djokovic match.
Hoping Wu will win as I can’t stand the arrogance of Djokovic.
Loving that McEnroe is commentating too.

I feel the same re Djokovic. It’s good to hear McEnroe too - a commentator who knows what he is talking about.

I love watching a good tennis match but I miss my lovely late MIL as we used to watch together. She was rather deaf so we used to have teletext on, which makes the most hilarious mistakes and was the cause of much laughter! OH is indifferent to sport so I now watch on my own, which is not quite the same. However, I'm staying with my younger daughter over the weekend so I think we may watch some together, Hope so!

Labradora Mon 29-Jun-26 17:55:52

I will be watching a great many matches; singles rather than doubles because I prefer singles.
In the men's singles I will be supporting Sinner to win( as I write I think all of the Brits who were really serious contenders are either defeated(Norrie) or have withdrawn(Draper)). I basically will cheer on any excellent tennis regardless of who is playing. Also I like Medvedev although he hasn't done so well lately .Radacanu out of course. Is she just unfortunately too physically fragile to play the game at this level? Supporting Sabalenka , Swiatek and Osaka for the girls.
I hope the heat doesn't spoil everything.

Gingster Mon 29-Jun-26 17:45:26

I love it.
Watched The French Open and Eastbourne last week and now Wimbledon - lovely.,

Raducanu is always such a disappointment, illness, injury and retiring from a game. I don’t think she can cope with the pressure.

I love watching Ostopenko , so strong and a real character.
Harriet Dart gave her a good run for her money though.

I like Navratilova , John Lloyd and Henman as commentators.
Not keen on Annabelle Croft or Tracy Austin. They love the sound of their own voices .

Looking forward to all the big names and fabulous play.

pably15 Mon 29-Jun-26 17:22:11

I hate tennis and golf, afraid I'm not a sporty person...

Greenfinch Mon 29-Jun-26 17:14:30

I love watching tennis and will be glued to Wimbledon whenever I am at home. I was very impressed with Harriet Dart and am hoping Katie Boulter will do well. I prefer the players who keep calm when they are losing and don’t show their frustration. My favourite player is Ugo Humbert who narrowly missed out in the finals at Eastbourne. I hope he will do better at Wimbledon.

Greyduster Mon 29-Jun-26 17:02:46

No. I’m afraid tennis leaves me cold. Ditto football. Cricket and golf in this house.

Grannybags Mon 29-Jun-26 16:54:11

I’m exhausted now after watching Cam Norrie’s match. Wow Zheng is talented!

Grannybags Mon 29-Jun-26 15:41:20

Harriet Dart played so well against Ostapenko. Such a shame she lost in the end

Jack and Emma seem to suffer a lot of injuries. Sad they’re both out now
