You say “we will be outside” don’t you?
How will things change if our summers keep getting hotter
I miss the woman my daughter was before she lost her husband

How is this match going to be safe for the thousands that will attend...already know many people saying that they are travelling to London on Tuesday...we are going round in circles with the self isolation etc....I just despair when am abiding by the rules..
You say “we will be outside” don’t you?
Mollygo the Welsh do not sing a song, they sing The Welsh
National Anthem
Kali2
In the meantime we have a small family meeting- first in nearly 2 years- 3 close family couples and 2 children - we will be outside, and 1 couple will have to go to Hôtel as we are not allowed more than 6 from 2 households inside. Just **** ridiculous.
We were going to do that last weekend for a family member's birthday, Kali2 but had to sit on separate tables so we met outside instead. It was so much better anyway than being indoors.
Callistemon did you see the tv news last night where they showed pictures of fans at distanced tables all over the country? The minute the goals were scored everyone jumped up, ran around and started hugging. What was the point of keeping them all apart?
Whatever the rights and wrongs of the crowds etc, wasn't it a wonderful and joyous occasion.
We've got to get back to normal somehow. But I do understand how some people feel about it.
No, I didn't see it; but that's what has been happening everywhere.

Yep, tour de France included.
There was me thinking this was going to be a really positive thread about seeing so many happy and upbeat people! I suppose I should know better by now! Gloom and misery prevail!
Anniebach
Mollygo the Welsh do not sing a song, they sing The Welsh

Sorry about the mistake Anniebach but it’s still their choice.
They could sing the UK National Anthem if they chose. The Welsh, including members of our family, have such a good reputation for singing that they could make anything sound good.
I didn’t hear any criticism from Welsh people about England singing God Save the Queen, and if there was any, I’d rather not know.
Kamiso there were lots of upbeat, positive comments on the happy, celebratory thread last night. I for one like to be in both camps, doom and gloom is not my style nor that of several others here. It is possible to understand opposing emotions.
I meant it is possible to experience opposing emotions.
I didn’t approve of fans not obeying covid regs, taking the knee, or booing the German National anthem. On the plus side it was fantastic to win and have something positive.
if there was any, I’d rather not know
Oh dear, are the little people upsetting you by standing up for themselves again?
This virus will spread no matter what we do and I really think it's time for us to do what many ministers are now saying - learn to live with it. We have been "happy" for many years now to accept thousands of people dying from flu each year and this has never been thrust into the spotlight like the Covid figures have.
Yes, we have had a pandemic but many of us are now vaccinated so are as "safe" as we will ever be. If you don't want to risk getting infected, stay at home but I am not going to do that. I have only just been "allowed" by the Government to see my daughter who lives in Yorkshire after nearly a year of being told that I can't - the way we have been treated and told to exist (it certainly hasn't been living) is totally inhuman and it needs to stop.
No, it’s not inhuman. It’s been saving lives…..
Inhuman is letting it rip through communities and nursing homes and letting people die or suffer from long covid….
Alegrias1, I have never thought of Scots as being little people, but if you know better . . .
So no they’re not upsetting me, but I’d rather think that the Welsh are nicer than the example of being a Scots that you give.

I would like to ask those complaining to say just how long they expect normal life to be kept on hold?
The majority of the population has been vaccinated so now is surely the time to stop being afraid of going out and mixing with people.
That’s the whole point of the vaccines isn’t it, to give us our lives back.
Many Europeans have far more freedom in foreign holiday opportunities than us, yet as we all know, their vaccination programmes are way behind ours.
Totally agree, it was great to see people together again, even with social distance in place at the stadium. We need to ease back to how we used to be so these restricted events have to go ahead. If there are limited consequences we need to deal with them as they occur and return to near normal as soon as possible.
It's a lot of people, and they have to travel there too.It seems too big a crowd when we have to miss out on events at schools and other places because numbers have to be limited.

Good grief.
I was thinking about this overnight. Well not all night, I'm not that obsessed.
It seems clear that there are many people who don't see why the English sports teams singing the UK national anthem is such a big deal. But that's to be expected, I suppose. There are many things about being Scots that the majority nationality in our Union don't understand. Being Welsh or Irish too, I imagine, but I don't intend to speak for them. So since the Scots have only quite recently realised that they need an anthem of their own (song, ditty - choose your description...) it marks the rise in a realisation that England does not equal the UK.
We're getting there.
Ukraine next then. Are you going to hammer them?
Who said the Germans don't have a sense of humour? grin

One of my favourite sayings is ‘The only people you think are normal are those you don’t know very well’ ?
The simple answer to the OP’s question is that the match isn’t going to be safe. However as I was told, upon pointing out the inconsistencies of government Covid policies, that I’m both jealous and angry, although I’m neither, I won’t make any further comment.
They’re booing the German National anthem. I’m so ashamed
Maybee 70. I felt ashamed too when they handed out some boos (not booze!) to a few Aussie Test cricketers when touring England, for being caught out scratching their balls during their South African tour.!
Al least they're consistent!

It is always fun in my family, my dad is German so I spent last night winding him up on WhatsApp. He has always had good sense of humour so he took it well
