I find it very difficult to go on holiday because everything is more expensive for one. Although prices given are usually for shared accommodation etc, companies don't put people together, you either get a reduction because you are a couple or you don't. I stay in the Mistral Hotel, Maleme, Crete, just for single travellers. It's the best of both worlds, beautifully clean, 2 pools, lovely Cretan food, 2 swimming pools, overlooking the Med. If you want, you can laze by the pool all week. If you want to be adventurous, there are lots of buses to explore, but the hotel do their own trips to places some tourists never get to see, because it's run by a local family.
