The only safe rule is never to click on an email link unless you are sepcifically expecting it, e.g. when you are registering onto something and you have to confirm your email address.
What I always do is check the links (you can do this on Apple computers by hovering over the links). If they look dubious, not what they claim to be, I just delete the email they came in. If the link looks as if it might be genuine, I go to the website of the sender and check that way.
It's worth remembering that there are very few times when you need to click on a link in an unsolicited email. Just don't do it. Get to where the link is trying to send you via another route (web browser) if you feel you must.
