DM always said, moisturise - doesn't matter how expensive the cream is, just use it. I passed that on to DD but added, always include your neck when you do your face. (Hard-learned lesson, that.)

DM always smelt wonderful, French perfume doing its thing, and I got the message. DD hasn't much of a sense of smell, so sticks to pleasant body lotions to be safe.

I have passed on the importance of, and I see DD is certainly using on DGS, serious sun screen, after allowing for the 20 minute vitamin D spell before the sun gets too hot.

Mum always steamed her face every Sunday and applied moisturiser morning and night a thing I do now and she always had the nicest skin,she also insisted on standing up straight as slouching made you so unattractive.
Even though there where 5 of us mum always made sure she was wearing a brush of lipstick for when dad came home from work and her hair was tidy.

My mum always told me to eat lots of dairy to keep my nails looking good - didn't help much with dieting though!

My mum told me to never rest your face in your hands as it stretches the skin, to stay out of the sun and to drink 8 glasses of water a day. I do all that, but don't follow her other beauty tip of sleeping with strips of brown paper stuck on her forehead to stop frown lines - much too uncomfortable!

My mum taught me to never use soap on my face, wash it only with water. Always moisturise, and once a week to use a facepack made with fresh yeast mixed with a little milk to make a paste.

Also she advocated that vaseline was good to thicken your eyelashes.

If my hair was dry she would say a beaten up raw egg was good as a conditioner.

She was adamant that tou had to drink water often to keep your skin clear!

My lovely mum always told me to stay out of the sun and moisturise. I have very fair skin and I dislike hot weather so I took heed. I do have really good skin.

Never use soap on your face and I must have been a grubby kid!
I never do and make up my own facial wash with witch hazel ,distilled water and rose water which I buy in concentrate form and dilute myself.I never have any problems with my skin.

My mum told me to take my make up off every night.

Use a good moisturiser on my face and neck at night.

Be careful not to pull the skin under the eyes as it will give you wrinkles.

And try and get 8 hours sleep per night.

It must of worked I turned 78 last birthday and when I told the waitress at my birthday meal she was shocked and said she wouldn't have put me over 65.

Wash your hair twice before conditioning, it makes your hair feel thicker was the best ever tip my mum has shared with me and it works!

My mum gave me some key pieces of advice as follows..
* Never wear white nail varnish, it makes your hands look awful!
* Pinch your cheeks hard for instant blush!
* Wash your face twice - once with hot water to open the pores & get the dirt out, then with cold to close the pores.
I'm definitely with her on the white nail varnish & I remember trying the second two in my youth, but I don't do them now!

My mother told me to sleep on a silk pillow, great for the skin and stops my hair standing on end next morning.

Mum encouraged me to always be kind to the skin around my eyes - never rub the area and to use an eye cream (sparingly) from my mid twenties. 40 years on I am glad I took her advice!

I was told not to put a lot of make up on my face, and not to use a bright red lipstick,as I would look like a tart, especially why these short dresses are about.

That was the other thing she use to say, well you have your belt on (my skirt) what happened to your skirt did you forget to put it on, back upstairs get a skirt on or a dress, but you are not going out like that.!!!!

Always take your make-up off before you go to bed!
Also my mother always told me that your 'beauty sleep' is the time you have before midnight :-) So early to bed is the secret to looking good!

ALSO IF MY MOM HAD DIRT ON HER HANDS SHE WOULD USE SOME SOFT BUTTER AND SUGAR TO CLEAN HER HANDS AFTER GARDENING

My mother taught me that if there is anything you are ever unsure about, there is always a Youtube video out there to help! I have taken this advice many times when struggling with getting the perfect eyebrows!

My mother always told me not to spend too much time in the sun, her skin is a testament to this, I try and be careful and use a moisturizer with sun factor in every day...even in the winter.
