Are you really being serious? You can start as many threads as you want about Allira. What many of us including HQ believe you can’t do is scatter your campaign across multiple unrelated threads. Do you really not understand the difference?

While I was typing, slowly, my comment about Granmaofone's point, other posts popped up, which I didn't see, until later, but to someone else looking at the Thread, it could appear that I was ignoring them.
Perhaps, on a busy, robust Thread, that is how some great posts are missed

Do you know how to remove a bookmark, anyone. I have set them accidentally before, and on long threads it's annoying to always be sent back to the bookmarked post.

LauraNorderr, I don't consider it childish to protest either, but it's the way it's being done that is unreasonable. It's a bit like Just Stop Oil or whoever gluing themselves to motorways - their cause is just, and they have a right to protest, but not to stop other people going about their business unimpeded.

I'm relatively new too,I don't post a lot but I do read things that interest me,there is a definite clique on the site ,reminds me of the mums at the school gates,if you don't fit you're not in and yes I noticed the comments on the Henry Nowak thread and agree they're not necessary and should remain on the appropriate page

What you call a clique happens on all SM sites that have been operating for many years.
Myself and many of this clique have “known” each other for the best part of 15 years.
We know each other not just through GN but through meet ups in real life. Just this last Saturday I was out with a member.

I don't need to know who Flippin2 met on Saturday, to hear and understand her.

As a newbie, her stated POV has exactly the same value to this thread as anybody else's.

Indeed.That’s why I ignored it.

The relevance is that a new or new ish poster wouldn’t know that Allira was well thought of and many of us on here think her ban was very unfair indeed.

Grandmaofone not only are the recipes old - the photos are often NOT of the thing being cooked...

It drives me bonkers - but when I wrote to them (@gransnet) about it they didn't seem to care - so we still get a mushroom pie with no mushrooms, a cheesy pea something with no peas and a blackberry something with no blackberries in the photo (say).

As we are deemed short sighted and not meant to notice ha ha

Although not guilty of mentioning Allira on the posts about the Henry Nowak tragedy, I am guilty of wondering about her opinion on light hearted threads.
I am not part of any clique, I do not know Allira personally but I do see injustice when a thoroughly decent poster can be targeted by at least one rude and aggressive poster and then banned. This is why I have agreed with others to spill out the matter on to lighter threads so that others are aware of this unfairness.
Posters who are now telling the rest of us, some doing so in quite a rude manner, what and where we should post are guilty of policing the threads, one of the charges unfairly made against Allira.
I do not consider it childish to protest against injustice by whatever means are open to us.

I honestly believe going on other threads and disrupting the flow does Allira no favours.

Posting on unrelated threads was discussed as a tactic on the disappearing members thread and then implemented by some of Allira’s supporters from that thread. I fail to see how this will help their cause - in fact, maybe the opposite.

"Allira's supporters" is a mite misleading I think.
Most of us have read many of Allira's threads, they were not in a clique as far I was ever able to note. If you read through the posts from all the gransnetters on the other thread, it's a who's who of regular posters - of many shades of political outlook.

The disappearing members thread is a gransnet campaign thread, as most of the things we pontificate about on here we are powerless to change, but it feels like we should have some power to change this. The "cause" such as it is is to get Allira some clarification about the process behind her banning and anything they could do to be allowed to return.

I can't see that a side reference to the disappearing members situation when posting, mainly on topic, on another thread is going to break any of the overt guidelines. It's annoying, but as long as the thread isn't "taken over" its just same old, same old threads meandering isn't it?

Length of service does not confer seniority on here. Questioning people about how long they have been members, apart from being rather rude, suggests that newcomers’ posts carry less weight than those of old hands, which is not the case. It is bound to be offputting
