Is it possible to remove a topic from "I'm on"

But if you block users surely a thread would make no sense it would miss out maybe relevant points and it would be unlike real life where you can’t just block someone from speaking even if you don’t like what they are saying.
And the world is made up of many opinions how would you ever learn if you blocked everyone that didn’t agree with your point of view
Moth62 the problem with some old threads is the grandchildren they were worrying so much about, may be out at work, 🤣the husband they were wondering how to manage may have died A lot can have happened also you can get someone opening it up to give the same advice that was given and chewed over two years ago !

I was thinking more about situations where a particular poster seems to take a dislike to another, and instantly jumps on anything they post just for the sake of arguments. Not to the extent where you would report that person, but just because you've had enough of them.

You can avoid someone's conversation in real life BlueBelle - you just walk away. There really some people who add nothing to your knowledge or to your feeling that most people are good people. No one should be obliged to listen to them. That wasn't what I was asking for personally, but I have been on a site that had it and it worked.

Can you not just ignore the posts , skip past them ? Certain posters could be skipped though it would be good if you could actually block them. Maybe one day ? Things are moving fast in the IT world, we only have a 10 year timelag here.

I can and I do nanna8 but that is irrelevant to what I am asking. What I want to be able to do, if it's possible, is decide when a thread has run its course as far as my interest goes. To not have it clogging up my list and wasting my time; time I could spend on threads I find more interesting.

Not sure I see anything wrong in adding to a post that’s dropped off the Active list tbh. I was enjoying the “Words we don’t use any more” thread and thought of another couple of expressions my mum used to use, so I found it in I’m on and added them. Others have since added more to it, but we’re all still on the same theme as the original OP, so maybe not what you’re getting at DaisyAnne.

I think a thread you've been on previously only reappears on your I'm on if you feed it yourself. Though I'm not sure what the period is prior to before it no longer shows?
I definitely know what you're getting at.

My problem with "I'm On" is that, when someone revives an old thread that I was on, this doesn't appear on my "I'm On" list. I see it in Active and think - "Hey, I was on that thread back then, why isn't it visible in I'm On??? If course, very often the old threads are revived by bots selling stuff but sometimes it's nice to go back to them.

I notice that the degeneration threads is happening more frequently. They seem to go through phases:

Early on, people are there because they care about the topic,
Later, more people arrive for stimulation, identity conflict, or social performance.

By this stage the thread has lost any point and it would be good to move on with it not still appearing on "I'm on".

Variety of thoughts and opinions. Freedom of speech, I suppose, and all that.

I'm obviously missing something but thank to those offering help. I have found how to change from desktop to mobile though so a small feeling of success. -

I'm on a tablet and prefer the desktop site but you can change - it's at the bottom of the page. "View mobile site"

If it's a thread you started, and the later arrivals irritate you, can't you explain to them what you anticipated in your OP and try to get the thread back on track? I don't mean in a bossy, controlling way, just re steering the discussion?

Or hide the discussion?

Or scroll past it from I'm on to the one in the queue below?

Or:

Threads meander, someone posts something loosely linked to the OP, someone else answers and before you know it, it's gone off at a tangent.

Just ignore and bring it back on track.

DaisyAnne Returns you need to click on the thread that you want to hide, then the you should see ‘Hide this discussion’

What would be more useful would be the ability to either block or mute certain posters, as you can on the likes of Facebook, Twitter and so on.

GN is a small organisation compared to those mentioned.

I just use hide discussion (arrow top right for drop-down menu)
Sad that later posters reasons for posting are dismissed so harshly.

Don’t you just click ‘hide discussion’
