nanaK54 - I'd suggest that if either the OP or a number of GNetters reported the thread, moderators could have a look and see if there was any point in allowing further posts, without deleting the whole thread.

Is there a way of admin preventing further comments being added to a thread, without deleting it? (Apart from when it reaches 1000 posts).
Some threads become completely repetitive and further comments are pointless. Other cases are when OP posts and interesting question but never comes back. Others get revived, sometimes by spammers, after years. In lots of comment sections of online newspapers etc, comments are closed after a certain time, though you can still read the ones posted.
