Waiting period after joining before being allowed to post?

How do you know when someone posts for the first time how long they’ve been registered, Farmor? They may have been lurking for some time, trying to pluck up courage to enter the fray.

What some sites do is have a system of pre-moderation for new users - your first post has to be approved by a moderator before appearing on the site.

I’m not sure that GN has enough moderators to do that.

I agree that we don't know if they've been registered for a while and just lurking - I hoped one of the Gransnet staff might be able to answer. I knew that on some sites there was some kind of approval process.

There was one recently that I reported and was immediately removed. It was one of those semi-porn types which I'm sure was not by a lurker! It was in a thread about nursing home. I think there are "bots" which trawl through these sites looking for key words.

I don't see the problem with how it operates at present. And what's a bot?

Someone could have a week a fortnight a months approval and still be a troll or a scammer but just behave themselves for the duration I don’t see a problem with how it runs we soon report dodgy seeming posts

I have been on GN for about 6 yrs. Does anyone know how to get my GN site to work on my new Tablet.
Please Please Pretty Please. I have had several attempts and it still does not work.
Nothing connects with GN on my new tablet although I could get, BBC Gardeners World Forum, that just moved saw itself onto my old tablet.

Remember Grannynet? I didn't join but they had a vetting system where were shunted into a thread for Newbies and if you were a good girl you were promoted (or something like that)

I remember jingl saying she was banned as soon as she was let out of kindergarten.

The site closed because everyone died of boredom!

I access Gransnet on iPad with Google Chrome browser. First time I just put “Gransnet” in search bar. I leave that tab open most of the time, so when I open Chrome again, Gransnet is already there.

To be honest, I think there can be too many rules and regulations farmor and things are fine as they are.

I remember jingl talking about her relationship with Grannynet. It was always very entertaining to see what she had to say.

I use Google Chrome on my tablet as well Nelliemoser it works well for me.
