Possible (fake) BT scam, access to computer wanted

Thank you for the replies so far everyone, I'd literally just got through the door after a long shift at work when the phone rang, absolutely knackered and off guard, but not so off guard I would let him (Indian accent) access my computer, I seem to be having a Summer of scammers !......

Quite right, welbeck, it's very annoying when somebody asks who you are when they have phoned you, and they haven't said who they are first! At least it hasn't happened to me so much since I stopped answering numbers I don't recognise. If anyone leaves a message I would be happy to phone them back, but strangely enough, the unknown callers never do.

Do not parly with anyone unknown.
Let it go to voicemail.
Remember you don't have to be polite.
To anyone.
You are not at work representing a business.
Information is power.
Do not give any away.
In the old days when people answered the phone with their number I would often say nothing.
Occasionally I said hello. I never gave my number.
Some callers would demand it. I said you are the one calling what do you think it is.

I agree, don't engage with them and change your number

Sad to say I think your name may be on a “suckers” list.

There isn’t a lot you can do as your data is already circulating and being sold on the dark web. Best to ignore all calls from unrecognised numbers. If you become overwhelmed by the number of scam calls then change your phone number and email address.
