To you, what is an angel?

In my experience angels are human. They are people who appear at our time of need. It may be miraculous or it may be coincidence. Many years ago I was working as an oral examiner which involved travelling all over the country usually for evening assignments. I am a nervous driver and so always travelled by train. One day the station car park was full and I had to park in a rough dark and unlit part at the very end of it. Coming home about 11pm. I was very anxious about the walk to the car and being so late I did not expect anyone else to get off at my quiet unmanned station. To my delight not only did a young couple get off but they walked almost the entire length of the car park to their car and following them I had only a few more yards to my car.
Those people were my angels that night and they will never know. I believe that some of us have unknowingly been angels to other people.
From the biblical point of view angels were messengers from God eg Gabriel and the angel who came with a message from God to Abraham but whether they were supernatural or natural beings(I lean towards the natural)I have to remain agnostic so it is very interesting to hear the views of others.

Sorry, I don’t believe in angels, although I think some of the imagery depicting them is beautiful.

Angels are beings which exist outside the physical world. They are not human, do not have human emotions and have not experienced existence as humans. They observe but rarely interfere with human affairs. They do try to influence humans but do not force them to do their bidding. They are benign and have the interest of humans at heart.

In Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy,
in her Key to the Scriptures,
defined Angels as ‘Spiritual Intuitions’,

God’s thoughts passing to man,
offering divine solutions to problems
in goodness and in purity of intention

I believe they were created by God as helpers for him. That there's different ranks of angels who do different tasks. That they live in the heavens near to God. That they are spirit creatures that are invisible to humans unless they materialise fleshly bodies so we can see them. That Satan was an angel who rebelled against God . That they have a higher intelligence than humans. That humans cannot control or command them.

Was there a reason your angel appeared Greenywitch?
I mean did you 'do' something or 'need' something?
Never had an experience similar, myself.

I think some people can be angels, I have one experience of this. Also felt all my life someone was looking after me, perhaps this is normal and now I think they are moving back.

Hello, I saw an angel when I was very little: I was 6 years old in my room, when something appeared shining near my bedroom window. I noticed a lady with wings. She smiled at me. I can still remember this today and I'm 52 now.

I have never really thought about angels or super-beings or wings etc... why do they have wings? Did humans make that up in their drawings? I have read the Bible and thought we cant see them but in the bible there are myriada of them, someone got in a physical fight with one, sometimes they take on human bodies, they have personalities and I think can go AWOL from their primary duties. What do you think about angels?
