Rather than submit my opinion on the matter [such as it is] I shall turn around and go elsewhere. The vibes are threatening to give me a migrane.

I think you might need to refine your sense of humour a bit. - Just because someone doesn't see things the way you do surely doesn't mean you need to criticise their sense of humour.

Seems to me it's the religiacs who protest too much and the rest of us just take the piss. - I think it is cruel to 'take the piss' out of people who have different beliefs from you.

Now I realise that I will be open to attack here but i still don't understand why people feel it necessary to be so unpleasant.

Well, I suppose it is one more way to villify mothers who are deserted by the biological father.

....so it was about both boys and girls who spent their first few months with 'detached' biological fathers, as opposed to 'attached' fathers who undertook meaningful care? Hmmmm...!

She was reporting some research which studied the relationship of babies of both sexes with their fathers during the first six months of life. This showed that boys who had loving and involved fathers during this short period at the start of their lives grew up to be less violent than boys whose fathers were less involved with them at this early stage.

I cannot remember all the details but the research was undertaken by a deparment of psychology at auniversity, I think, in the Netherlands and sample sizes and length of study seemed reasonable.

The research was not undertaken under any kind of religious auspices and as I said dealt only with the father's interaction with his son in the first six months.

Haven"t heard of this woman at all , don"t even what station she is on , doesn"t seem too popular though

Anne Atkins also pontificates a lot on the subject of child-rearing. Of course, her family is perfect....

She is a vicar's wife who has managed to get herself invited to give the Thought for the Day on Radio 4's Today programme on many occasions. She has a very annoying preachy voice and is a dyed-in-the-wool right wing old-fashioned Anglican. I have no idea why she thinks she is qualified to lecture to the rest of us on a huge range of subjects.
