I would not lie in such a way.
My mother was shallow and vain and was not much liked by anyone. She had a few facelifts over the years. Always spun a story about gland operation or mastoid operation. Regularly she'd make up illnesses that would have everyone rallying round , taking her laundry and doing her shopping. Once the morning visitors had gone she'd be off out with a man friend . All the while pretending to be ill in bed and not accepting visitors.
Women weren't worth her time she craved mens attention and money.
Her only value in life was appearance. She also judged others by appearance alone.
As to the friend of OP, this is my opinion.
The scenario described would merit longer in hospital.
Doctors do their rounds daily ,just the once, so she'd be seen several times on the ward over at least a few days. There'd be visits to her bedside from the appropriate consultants.
Taken in to A and E first.
She would have been in an acute assessment ward to begin with. They would arrange an immediate scan.
Then on to an appropriate ward for treatment.
If she was an emergency and had immediate surgety on the same day the accident happened then the gravity of her situation would mean a longer stay.
What a difference a day makes 😢😢
