I wouldn't take a dog away somewhere hot.
Its just as hot whether at home or abroad so the same common sense applies.

We've just entered into a red alert zone, temperatures of nearly 40 degrees here.
The dog is coping, just, we've closed all the shutters and windows. I'm not sure what else one can do. It's certainly no fun.

There's no going outside for him, even though we gave a big garden and we're only 3 minutes on foot to the beach.
This carries on until Thursday.
We exercised him at 6 am today, we'll just have to see what tomorrow brings.
Good luck everyone.

I’m just worrying because I booked a hotel for next week and the temperature is going to be high. My dog doesn’t do well in the car or the heat so I’m panicking a bit. We’re only going for one night so I hope she will be okay.

Just avoid Padstow please. We’d never seen so many dogs, many people with up to five together on leads. Why? These death trap expanding leads sent one woman tripping into the harbour.

Our bonkers spaniel insists on lying in the sun too 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ DH walks her every morning before 6:00am and we take her with us in the car, which she loves, and it has great air con.

We often visit Lyme Regis/Bridport and see so many poor, over heated dogs dragged around the baking hot streets. I think it is because rented holiday homes often ban dogs from being left alone.

We are away on Devon at the moment and have our dog with us
We are in a mobile home and today is very hot Spee walked home early this morning and have left him indoors with a fan on and curtains closed (we know he will sleep) we have come down to the beach for a couple of hours and we will take him out again when the weather cools tonight

If the weather is cooler becomes out with us during the day

We make our yearly trip via Euro Rail and our 2 French Bulldogs are home with their Auntie and her husband at our flat.

They are spoiled and happy & have around the clock attention !!

36° in Italy and we saw quite a few dogs, though I couldn’t say whether any of them except one belonged to tourists. The dogs seemed unbothered by the heat, -lively, not lethargic and as MartavTaurus mentioned, there were always bowls of water at pavement restaurants.
I’d rather leave ours at the kennels.

Well, as chance, or misfortune, would have it, ny dog is with me in temperatures of 35°. It has been like this for nearly 4 weeks and another 10 days to go.

I think he is used to it now, his body has adjusted.
He has a long swim in the sea at 6 am before breakfast (24°).
In the car we have air con.
Every restaurant and café here brings out a fresh dog bowl of water.
He chooses to lie in the sun, silly fool, every now and then!
So, so far so good.

Oh My God !!
The little oic is choosing deliberately to lie in the sun .....
It's why we love 'em .... they're completely bonkers......
Seriously I see a lot more dogs in transit at airports and ferry ports than previously and I wonder whether they find it stressful rather than being delighted that they are with their trusted owners rather than in kennels.......
We used to take our little chap in the car and he always settled down easily in hotels and holiday stays with gardens but I don't think I'd have taken him on a plane. Not very logical I suppose.

Ok… so I don’t take my dog out in the heat, just early morning exercise. So how does it work if you want to take your dog on a summer holiday. Ie , it turns vv hot .
I’m wondering how people manage this or am I better to put him in kennels where they have air con?
