We lost our little poodle yesterday. He had a stroke on Wednesday and lost the use of his back legs.

We contacted a vet, an 'angel' who specialises in euthanasia and she came yesterday so we could let him go without pain and fear.

He came into our lives when we were in a dark and frightening place having been estranged by our youngest son. He brought love, peace and joy into back our lives and was there for us during our darkest hours.

He was white and I called him my little angel without wings.
Now he's gone and has become my little angel with wings.

So sad when they leave us, I dread the day. We're on our 5th dog, a rescue weimaraner aged 4, he is adorable.
Rescue a dog in need, in memory of Pippin, there are plenty out there that need a loving home.

Pippin gave you and Mr S what you both needed Smiles at a horrible time in your life. He gave and gave . Dogs are very intelligent and he would know when you both needed extra attention or to make you both laugh. He will be forever in your minds and hearts . He was and will always be family . ❤️

So sorry to hear about your loss. It’s very hard when they have to leave us 😢😢😢😢

I understand just how you are feeling. We lost our little black and white cat Lewis 6 weeks ago, he also had a stroke, we had him from 8 weeks old, he was 12. He was with us everyday as we retired at that time and the loss we felt was devastating , I can say time is slowly helping us come to terms with it, which I'm sure you will also do eventually.

Smileless2012 - keep your memories alive of your time with Pipin, they are precious.
As a sideways move. What it is with estranged children/family - I truly don’t understand. I am estranged from my eldest of two sons.
My trade name ‘Granless’ is not appropriate any more. I now have a granddaughter -a lovely gift from my youngest son who lives the other side of the world.
Love to you and Pipin.

So sorry. 😢

My heart goes out to you for the loss of Pipin. I also had my darling Bichon Pudding put to sleep at home. It's the kindest way to end their suffering.

I am so very sorry for your loss. As a fellow dog lover I know exactly how you are feeling, we lost our last dog two months ago and are still grieving. They give us so much love, and are always there for us. Rest in peace little Pipin.

I feel your pain, as do all the other pet lovers who have read your post.

I am glad Pippen made such a difference to your lives and gave you so much happiness.

Smileless2012 I'm so sorry for your loss. The lives of our dogs are so short but the love and comfort they can give in difficult times is beyond words. You were able to let him leave the world gently which is such a blessing.

I lost my Pippin (my beloved) 3 years ago last month and I still cry when I think/talk about her, so I dont. But I like to think she's with her "sister" Florence, who died 7 months exactly before her, (both on 21st). There was 6 months between them and they were hardly ever apart.

Dogs get under your skin, they love you for you, no matter what. The only downside is they don't live long enough.

You have my sympathy

I really do understand. Alf had a pulmonary embolism end of March. I really was in a dark place as I lost him and husband all in 7 months.
I decided it was now or never and have my 10 week old pup. He is hard work but as you say an angel in disguise.
I wish Alf had died at home but we were on the way to the vet’s as he was still alive on the way and they did cpr. But they were soo kind. And now he’s buried in my friend’s lovely woodland garden- next to her old cat Percy.

I’m so sorry Smileless. It’s so hard to lose a pet who has meant so much at a difficult time. We’ve been through this numerous times with dogs and cats and it never gets any easier. Be kind to yourselves. flowers

Although I don’t have a dog I am sure you must miss it as did my neighbours who now have another dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss, run free precious Pipin x

JakeysGranny Sun 03-May-26 16:26:05

I’m so sorry for your loss xx
I know from experience how difficult it is to lose a beloved pet, I think I’ve cried more for some pets than I have for some members of my family who have passed. Animals just want to please, they bring such love and comfort when we need it most.

Grannyme6 Sun 03-May-26 16:16:26

So sorry Smileless 💐
