Do you or don’t you like dogs? Quick survey.

I love dogs, we have always adopted rescue hounds. ATM we have a rescue mastiff cross ❤️and she is gorgeous. A big strong girl but very friendly towards people and some dogs.

I don’t like dogs although I used to board trainee guide dogs just before they finished their training. They were wonderful.
I love cats but we don’t have one now as we live near a busy road. I love my daughter’s cat and just about tolerate the dog!

I’ve always loved dogs . I grew up with dogs and have had 3 of my own over the past 30 years . My dogs have all been Labradors , which are great family dogs and easy to train as they’re very greedy .
Now we’re retired, the dog gives us structure to our day as he needs a walk 2 a day . Dog walking is great for exercise and it’s social as dog owners are very friendly.
Saying that , there are a fair number of irresponsible dog owners these days .

I prefer horses if I'm honest , but I love dogs . I usually keep at least three .
I've had all sorts and often adopt a rescue .
I get annoyed by irresponsible dog owners though .
A dog is a huge responsibility and needs training and care .

Yes, that would make sense. My town only seems to have dog-friendly ones (with the possible exception of COSTA). All the independent ones have gone down the route of encouraging dogs.

I like dogs but never owned one.

We have a dog cafe in our town where dogs are positively encouraged but we also have cafes with no dogs allowed. It's a good balance.

I like dogs very much, although we don't have one just now. My asthma means that I couldn't walk it properly, and my husband doesn't want the responsibility of 2 walks a day in all weathers to fall just to him (which I understand).

I have two granddogs though, and look after them when my children go on holiday (they have one each).

What I don't like is the current trend of making cafes dog-friendly. I don't mind in a beachfront cafe, but in a town centre there is no need for them. There are people who are allergic to dogs or afraid of them, and IMO they should be considered before dogs. Do dogs even like sitting in cafes?

I love most dogs and couldn’t imagine my life without the 3 dogs and one cat we’ve had over 30 years. A daft Boxer and 2 Border Terriers and a lovely cat. We were very lucky as they all lived very long and healthy lives.

Sadly we are now too old to take on the responsibility of owing another dog but more than happy to look after DS dog when asked.

Sorry, further tests are being undertaken to reestablish the exact breed.

There are news reports that a 19 year old woman has been killed at home by a dog police believe to have been an XL bully.
Those people who say it’s never the dog, always the owner might have a bit of a point with XL Bullies. They were bred to fight, to kill. It’s deep in their DNA. My question is what kind of person wants to own this breed, or its spin off breeds.

Something has gone seriously wrong with the dna of those dogs. In the podcast it said that guard dogs were selectively bred to be aggressive towards other people but not their owners.

The owners of the dog have been arrested.

It has been reported that, unbelievably, the owner of a dog that left a 19-year-old dead following a savage attack inside a Bristol flat screamed "they've killed my dog" as officers shot at it, police have said.
This after it had killed the other young woman.
In fact the police tranquilized the animal and it was later put down.

So the huge dog was living in a flat in a suburban area.
Not fair on neighbours, not fair on the dog either, keeping it in conditions like that.

We love our two small dogs very much. They both have their own individual personalities and make us laugh every day. They enrich our lives and are unswerving loyal.

We are off for a week's holiday abroad next week to celebrate my husbands 70th. We will really miss them. We've never been separated from them! We normally go away in our caravan with them and have a lovely time together.

I like dogs but have asthma and allergic to all things furry or feathered. I get my dog 'fix' when I walk in the country park nearby.
I know lots of lovely dogs and their owners too. I find it funny that I know all the names of the dogs but can often not remember the names of their people. 🤔

By the way, Maybee, French Poodles actually originated in Germany and were great water dogs as you say.
So, the name of the breed is actually an old German word 'pudel' which used to mean puddle.

Totally correct. I wonder why they are called French poodles? I’ve met Portuguese water dogs that have to climb up a ladder as part of their breed spec.

Yes, I do. I don’t think a lot of people realise what a commitment they are to look after them properly, but equally I don’t think people who don’t like them realise how clever they are, and much they add to your life.

I do not dislike dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters et al but as you say yourself Casdon what a commitment they are to look after them properly

I do not have time to spend caring for animals and do not like them enough to want to do it. I had 2 children, brought them up and launched them into the world. Thats quite sufficient for one lifetime.

I’m frightened of dogs and don’t like them coming close to me. But once I get to know an individual dog I can relax with them. I used to be fond of a friendly black poodle when I was younger.

And what about all the children and adults tortured, abused and killed by other humans? As I said before, and I make no apologies for saying again, if I had to choose between saving my dog and most humans outwith my very immediate family, you better believe I'm choosing my dog.

More important - do they or don’t they like you?

I hope this is not another dog bashing thread-dog poos/dogs on or off the lead/dogs in Wetherspoons/ dogs in the park/ ad infinitum

I love dogs. In fact I love animals generally. Was brought up in an animal loving house and brought my children up to be the same. Even though I have had a few very nasty bites (not from my own dogs) it has never put me off. I don't like dogs jumping up or dogs trying to lick my face but the owners are at fault there, not the dogs. To be honest, I probably prefer animals to humans especially when I see how cruel and wicked some humans can be.

I like some dogs but prefer cats. I don't have either now and won't be having any in the future. One of my children is severely allergic to both, but especially cats, to the point of them causing breathing problems sometimes necessitating hospital treatment.
I like lots of different animals but can't understand anyone who says they prefer animals to their fellow humans.

Do like cats, until they pluck all the furniture & carpets 🙄

Not keen on that wet dog smell 😩 my friend has a beautiful house full of cream furnishings, but the smell of dogs makes me want to vomit.
