Good old Finefare!
I once won a PlayStation in a Finefare competition. I thought someone was playing a joke, when I got the phone call. My children thought Christmas had come early!

I remember Finefare! In the days when chicken was a great luxury (early 50s) I remember my mum and gran queuing outside the new Finefare which was opening in the nearby town because they were giving a chicken to the first X customers. They each got one and were very chuffed! Do you remember the Home and Colonial stores too? Couldn’t call them that now!

I remember FineFare, too - and chicken being so expensive we never had it! Mind you my mother didn’t like chicken anyway. When asked why she’d say, ‘Because it’s a bird.’ 🤔
She didn’t like ‘eggy’ eggs, either.
Or tomatoes, but when dds in their 20s finally asked why, she said, ‘I don’t know really - I’ve never actually tried one.’ 😂

Brewers Fayre does not have an apostrophe. On the same walk on which I checked that, I saw a pub offering the chance to book for Festive Fayre!!

I'm not sure you need the 'a' or the 'an' though to use it as a noun.

'Inadequate fare for the work they have to do' = 'not enough food to sustain them for the work they have to do'?

'Christmas fare to remember' = 'By 'eck, that were bl**dy good Christmas nosh' 😂

I agree too Grammaretto I can just about tolerate Fayre but Fare is completely wrong.

‘Fayre’ makes me cringe too - why has it been an apparently obligatory description of a bazaar-type event for the last few decades?
