Apples

I would say Blackberry and apple crumble.
As in Strawberry and gooseberry crumble
I see them as an addition not the main filling.

I don’t think alphabetical order comes into it. We never say ‘chips and fish’, mash and sausages’. There are probably many more examples that could be added.

Well, if you think about it, Apple and blackberry, or bacon and eggs is more aesthetically pleasing, as they are in alphabetical order. That's the way I say them, never the other way round.

A blackberry is a bramble where I come from so definitely a bramble and apple crumble.

But it's really so unimportant. A bit like eggs and bacon or bacon and eggs - both versions are used. So what?

Blackberry and apple, simply because I usually make it when there is a glut of blackberries, and only a small amount of apples are added. Ditto blackberry and apple jam.

Apple and blackberry...but if there's more blackberries than apples it should be Blackberry and apple. But I'd still say Apple and blackberry

Tell him if he doesn't want your apple and blackberry crumble he will just have to make his own blackberry and apple one.

I’ve always said blackberry and apple as it used to be made in the late summer, from the blackberries picked on country rambles. I don’t think it matters, tbh.
