Reported BBC.
Hundreds of people dressed in black with balaclavas have stopped access, I can’t see who they are.

Oh, I shouldn't worry, JenniRen.

It is only apparent to a very few, not worth bothering about.

Thanks!

I wonder how 'local' the protesters are?

Black and red. What does it remind you of?

Stendhal Le Rouge et Le Noir ?

Santa Claus with his shiny belt?

Mamie Sat 05-Sept-26 12:55:19

Perhaps they will be claiming that they have stopped the boats?

MartavTaurus Sat 05-Sept-26 12:58:53

But not one of them is wearing any red anyway? The Guardian, picture below, calls them black-clad protesters.

OldFrill Sat 05-Sept-26 13:04:15

It's the Patriotic Platform website, posted upthread, that is in black and red text, not the protesters.

The protesters are wearing black/dark clothing and masks (l assume to avoid identification).

MartavTaurus Sat 05-Sept-26 13:13:07

Oh well, AC Milan had better re-design its website and club logo then. ⚽️

MartavTaurus Sat 05-Sept-26 13:15:27

I hope there was no violent behaviour. I hope the ferries weren't delayed too long either.
I'm not sure that kind of protest was really necessary.

vegansrock Sat 05-Sept-26 13:16:18

Well they’re stopping the wrong boats but I doubt that occurred to them. Lets hope they get the same treatment as the JSO protesters who shut the M25- arrest, conviction, jail.

Nandalot Sat 05-Sept-26 13:17:11

I find this very disturbing. It is so reminiscent of the blackshirts. They are wearing a uniform. The masks make it look even more threatening.

vegansrock Sat 05-Sept-26 13:24:19

Far right rentamobs. They should be treated as domestic terrorists.

Fallingstar Sat 05-Sept-26 13:31:47

Legally the police can insist they remove their masks.

Far right rentamobs. They should be treated as domestic terrorists.

As should the JSO who close roads, deface paintings and churn up University lawns.

All should be treated equally, disrupters.

Although under our laws we all have the right to peaceful protest, and until such time as any protest becomes violent or they destroy property, they are within the law.

The police have the powers to ask for the removal of face coverings in certain situations.

vegansrock Sat 05-Sept-26 13:40:20

The JSO protesters did not wear balaclavas and several were jailed.

mum2three Sat 05-Sept-26 13:44:35

If no-one makes a protest it will seem as though there isn't a problem....endless numbers of young foreign men can continue to enter the country and everyone is quite happy about it.
Covering their faces is a way to protect themselves from a backlash from those who really do want these people here...quite happy about the amount of money being spent on them...the girls being raped.

The JSO protesters did not wear balaclavas and several were jailed.

Several of the JSO and other protest groups have been jailed for various reasons, not just for peaceful protests though, which as you no doubt know is allowed under U.K. law.

As posted previously the police have the power to ask for the removal of face coverings.

Personally I am against all face coverings including those of some sectors of Islam,

Mind you those who swaddle themselves in hats and scarves in the winter and motor bike riders could be caught out if we had no face coverings allowed legislation.

Black and red. What does it remind you of?

I don't know, apart from an outfit I wore for a Christmas wedding years ago?

Is it something sinister?

In answer to your two questions: Really? Yes very.

I will spell it out. The Nazis used to have an emblem used for flags, arm bands etc. It was a black swastika on a red ground.

Many far right and so called, patriotic organisations embrace quite a bit of Nazi doctrine and some even profess to admire Hitler, so the black and red is probably an homage to the Nazis and Hitler.

The red and black appears on the Patriot website.(see link on previous post)

Language!

Look at their web-site and give it some thought.

MartavTaurus Sat 05-Sept-26 13:57:32

Nein, meine Damen und Herren.
Die traditionellen Farben des Nationalsozialismus sind schwarz, rot und weiß, to be correct.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 05-Sept-26 14:02:57

Yes I know, but perhaps they aren’t nationalists?

Galaxy Sat 05-Sept-26 14:06:43

Masked protests are very common, it has emerged in I would say the last 5 years maybe earlier.
