Just a few nights ago a prog was on TV about schoolboy Harvey Wilgoose who was stabbed to death at school by another boy Mohammed Umar Khan. It was absolutely horrifying and very frightening.

My point is, as I clearly said, is it is horrifying and frightening. I think most people would agree that this is because it could happen in a school with such young kids.

Posters who sensationalise this murder by saying it was done by a white man so nobody cares are way off the beam! By making out that only ‘they’ are concerned is beyond ridiculous.
Everyone cares about an intruder in the home especially a dangerous one, let alone a murderous one.
The front page news about stabbings and murder is usually reserved for celebrities as there are so many murders now by stabbing in particular, that if they were all headline news there would be no time for anything else.

I agree about the issue of male violence but I think it’s possible to agree about that and also accept the fact that a white man murdering a Sikh woman in her bed next to her baby and husband is not bothering most people

I'd hope it does bother most people. It bothers me.

People have little idea of the Sikh religion, how different it is in key aspects to religions from the region. One, clearly mad attacker and brother of Sikh origin as of recent cannot be generalised on.

Read this for example, as I know from a Sikh woman in my interfaith group

Again, it is the spread of hate and divisiveness by particular groups within our white population that can lead to incidents like this.

My blood runs cold reading this.

My sister, a widow, was woken by an intruder in her bedroom a few months ago. It was 3am, and the intruder thought the house was empty, until she stirred.
She was ordered to stay in bed. The man, in a balaclava, held a knife to her face, threatening her. He demanded to know where she kept jewellery and money, and where her handbag was.

He stole her purse her phone, her iPad and took her jewellery box.
Then he fled. My sister found drawers and cupboards open down stairs.
A little tip here. If you have a landline phone, do keep it.
She was able to phone the police, who arrived very quickly. They made the back door secure, where he had broken in.
She was very shaken up, obviously.

There are some very nasty people out there, who think nothing of hurting others. We are so very thankful my sister was unharmed.

That poor family. I wonder why that poor woman was targeted? Just awful.

The chap who murdered his wife and kids in Bedford was domestically abusive to her. It doesn’t matter what colour he was (he wasn’t white - I think the message has been lost in translation) but it’s still male violence

Yes. And the more divisive and unaccepting of other faiths and cultures society gets - the more we will find horrifying incidents such as this.

Maybe it’s more frightening when the victim is white?

Male violence again
It is rarely women

Yes but some people only care about certain acts of male violence depending on the colour of the perpetrator. This thread imo is about that, not about his motive or that he was male but the lack of concern for the family affected.

My son’s friend was killed in a stabbing. The outrage was because he was only 17 yo
I just find it incomprehensible tbh that people are picking up kitchen utensils and killing other people with them. This isn’t evolving, this is the fastest way to living in hell

I remember being a social worker when care in the community became the policy. And we all kept saying that it would cost more - that it could not be done on the cheap. It was dressed up as being the right thing to do morally, but it was clear that it was hoped that there would be savings.

I do not think anything can be presumed. In fact it is 'presumptions, whipped up by others that cause race riots.

I do not know exactly who the assailant was, or why he was where he was, but I would be very slow to suggest that an attack like this was necessarily racist, just because the victim was of Asian origin. I would require very good evidence to make that assumption.

It is not 'just' anything, a murder never is 'just', however you define the word.

On the news is reporting it as a hate crime.
