This lady was asleep in her bed, with her husband and with her young baby, in their own home.

“A man has been charged with murder after a woman was fatally stabbed in Hayes, west London.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called just before 08:00 BST to a property on Uxbridge Road on Sunday where they found Kirandeep Kaur with stab wounds.

Despite efforts of emergency services, the 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s was found outside the property, also with stab injuries. He remains in hospital and his condition is not considered to be life threatening.

Daniel Sean James, 44, of Mercer Place, Pinner, was also charged on Monday with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Tuesday”

Someone on Facebook has asked “where is the cold dark rage”

He’s not advocating violence, but he’s questioning why this doesn’t meet the narrative of being outraged.

What is happening in our country and in our world?

Yes I believe he is back here Shinamae. And yes Tuliptree he is white...and I think it is the answer.

Yes. And the more divisive and unaccepting of other faiths and cultures society gets - the more we will find horrifying incidents such as this.

JaneJudge Sun 19-Jul-26 20:11:40

The chap who murdered his wife and kids in Bedford was domestically abusive to her. It doesn’t matter what colour he was (he wasn’t white - I think the message has been lost in translation) but it’s still male violence
How fucking dare he

Tuliptree Sun 19-Jul-26 20:15:59

I agree about the issue of male violence but I think it’s possible to agree about that and also accept the fact that a white man murdering a Sikh woman in her bed next to her baby and husband is not bothering most people

JaneJudge Sun 19-Jul-26 20:17:14

God it bothers me 😭

Wyllow3 Sun 19-Jul-26 20:43:07

It if were otherwise I think I can imagine the outcry. In her bed, in her house! 🤬

Is the suspect white? There your answer if he is .

I know not, but he does have a very British sounding name!

My blood runs cold reading this.

My sister, a widow, was woken by an intruder in her bedroom a few months ago. It was 3am, and the intruder thought the house was empty, until she stirred.
She was ordered to stay in bed. The man, in a balaclava, held a knife to her face, threatening her. He demanded to know where she kept jewellery and money, and where her handbag was.

He stole her purse her phone, her iPad and took her jewellery box.
Then he fled. My sister found drawers and cupboards open down stairs.
A little tip here. If you have a landline phone, do keep it.
She was able to phone the police, who arrived very quickly. They made the back door secure, where he had broken in.
She was very shaken up, obviously.

There are some very nasty people out there, who think nothing of hurting others. We are so very thankful my sister was unharmed.

That poor family. I wonder why that poor woman was targeted? Just awful.

You’re poor sister, how tweeting

Cossy Sun 19-Jul-26 21:01:24

I’m so sorry, I meant how terrifying!

Cossy Sun 19-Jul-26 21:03:30

And your!! Your sister.

People have little idea of the Sikh religion, how different it is in key aspects to religions from the region. One, clearly mad attacker and brother of Sikh origin as of recent cannot be generalised on.

Read this for example, as I know from a Sikh woman in my interfaith group

"Sikhism on WomenGender equality is a foundational principle of Sikhism. Established in the 15th century, the faith's primary scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, condemns discrimination and explicitly recognizes women as spiritual equals. Sikh teachings specifically prohibit practices like female infanticide, child marriage, and the wearing of veils. Historically, Sikh women have served as warriors, missionaries, and leaders. In modern practice, women have equal access to participate in all religious services, ceremonies, and leadership roles within the community"

Again, it is the spread of hate and divisiveness by particular groups within our white population that can lead to incidents like this.
Will it be a headline tomorrow? lets see.

I'd hope it does bother most people. It bothers me.

Posters who sensationalise this murder by saying it was done by a white man so nobody cares are way off the beam! By making out that only ‘they’ are concerned is beyond ridiculous.
Everyone cares about an intruder in the home especially a dangerous one, let alone a murderous one.
The front page news about stabbings and murder is usually reserved for celebrities as there are so many murders now by stabbing in particular, that if they were all headline news there would be no time for anything else.

Primrose53

Just a few nights ago a prog was on TV about schoolboy Harvey Wilgoose who was stabbed to death at school by another boy Mohammed Umar Khan. It was absolutely horrifying and very frightening.

Yes Primrose I remember it well. And your point is about this case?

Stop trying to put words into my mouth!

My point is, as I clearly said, is it is horrifying and frightening. I think most people would agree that this is because it could happen in a school with such young kids.

winterwhite Sun 19-Jul-26 21:49:01

It’s a horrifying story and must bother everybody. But I agree with MOnica there’s not much to suggest it was a racially motivated attack. And is it certain that murder was intended? Going along the street trying doors sounds more like burglary, but maybe I have missed something.

Cossy Sun 19-Jul-26 21:57:03

All murders, whether by stabbing or some other means, are utterly abhorrent.

Many of us will understand the lack of publicity around this awful murder, of a young Indian women in her own home, allegedly stabbed by a white man, and the equally abhorrent murder of Henry Nowak, a white man murdered by a Sikh.

Neither murder is more tragic, more horrific, more terrifying than the other.

One got huge amounts of media coverage, one didn’t.

This latest murder happened on July 12th.

Where is the public outrage and widespread condemnation?

Shinamae Sun 19-Jul-26 22:00:09

I don’t really care about the ethnicity of the victim or the perpetrator, The fact that these days there are so many Murders some of them hardly warrant a mention, yet you go back to the 50s and 60s and a murder would’ve been front page news for a good while
Times have changed and not for the better..(Sorry for stating the obvious!)

Maremia Sun 19-Jul-26 22:07:21

Every murder is vile, evey death, a tragedy, but has there ever been a study on Gransnet about which 'category' of criminal gets the most publicity?

Cossy Sun 19-Jul-26 22:09:20

Sorry, but I think some are missing the point. I’ll leave it at that 😕😢

JaneJudge Sun 19-Jul-26 22:10:44

I’ve not missed the point but I don’t really know what to say

I think the Henry case was because of the police's actions, and the fact that they weren't open about them.

Maremia Sun 19-Jul-26 22:19:23

Perhaps some posters are 'avoiding' the issue, Cossy?

MissAdventure Sun 19-Jul-26 22:24:42

The issue for me is that a young woman was stabbed to death in her own home.
Now, if she had phoned to police and they'd said "Stabbed? I don't think you were, love"...

Galaxy Sun 19-Jul-26 22:41:25

Yes it was plainly to do with the actions of the police.
It often happens with murders, if you look at Sarah Everard, that case received much more attention than other murders of women because of the nature of the case.

Maremia Sun 19-Jul-26 23:14:40

Time, and future Threads, will tell.
