I don't hate him. I didn't vote Labour but I recognised the country needed a change and thought he would be so much better than he has been. I think the real problem is the people who surrounded himself with including Angela half a brain cell Rayner, Calamity Lammy and Ed Minibrain.

You forgot to mention 'turn again' Rachel Reeves.

Well done indeed, I'm sad to see him go, despite his faults he always had the countrys best interests at heart I'm sure.

I agree that he always had the country's best interest at heart but his Chancellor, Rachel Reeves let him down.

I thought he was ok too, a little dull and boring perhaps and despite his lowly upbringing a little out of touch with reality. If he's started with cutting winter fuel allowance to higher tax payers it would have been less controversial. As it was cutting that straight away was a step too far, people had had enough of Tory cuts and to serve up more set him off on the wrong foot.
He is a great guy though, far better than any for the previous 14 years

Casdon- that is good news and a good legacy of appreciation towards Starmer.

Not a fan but he was certainly a steadying force, without him we might have been drawn into a war by Trump and he appeared to do a good job with Europe, Ukraine and the US. Unfortunately it seemed to me at least that he never had a credible plan on domestic affairs and he also seemed unable or unwilling to 'manage' Rachel Reeves.

He has been a terrible ambassador for this country, he is weak and without a clear view other than self preservation. That’s why his view flip flopped so many times
He got rid of labour MPs that wanted the 2 child cap lifting (which is a ridiculous thing to do BTW) only to then push it through when it would appease the parliamentary Labour Party
No back bone or integrity- good riddance

Well he did enough bowing and scraping with his best buddy Macron (who is on his way out as well) and trips to his beloved EU so I'm not surprised. He won't be getting any prizes or praise from most of the voters in the UK the most hated PM in my lifetime.

He's an absolutely useless prime minister and has got us more and more in debt. How on earth does he think it's acceptable to borrow money to give to other countries?! We are in dire straits ourselves and should certainly not be borrowing money to give to other countries, which the British tax buyer has to fund.

Following his meeting with Mr Macron and the Coalition of the Willing, the outgoing PM announced his first attempt to rewrite history - a €90billion loan to Ukraine will be provided using borrowed money.

Announcing the loan, Sir Keir said: “Today’s agreement is the latest demonstration of the UK’s unwavering support for Ukraine.”

The EU Commission used slightly different phrasing to announce Britain’s contribution, instead saying: “The UK will provide a fair and proportionate contribution to the costs arising from borrowing, commensurate with the value of contracts awarded to UK companies.”

The costs of the agreement are undefined and open-ended, with the loan only covering until the end of 2027, and only two-thirds of the money being used for defence.

Which are down by @ 40% I believe but it doesn’t seem to be newsworthy now that the long term plan seems to be working…

Apologies, I thought you meant the reaction yesterday to his departure.

It appears to be all they know, the reach for control, that type of authoritarian approach has already contributed to many of their problems.

Well said , Doodledog. I do believe that the determination of the media to oust Keir Starmer was at the root of the problem. It is as if the public were spoon fed with sound bites,over and over again.We shall never know what the end result of Keir Starmer's overall goal will be. I'm sorry he wasn't given the chance,

We know only too well the innate damage the media can do.

It’s largely thanks to the media, and some easily led public, which led to the Southport riots when Starmer came to power, damned if he did act, damned if he didn’t. He did act, swiftly, and was damned.

The media has very much spread and applauded the rhetoric of Farage, his links with GB, X and various other media outlet, including that owned by himself, has resulted in the explosion of Reform, very much due to exploitation of people’s perceived fears and anxieties around migration.

I do not wish to see either the freedom of investigative journalist curtailed, nor free speech, nor our right to peacefully protest.

However, what people need drummed firmly into their minds and to understand is that alongside these freedoms comes great responsibility.

Responsibility to act and report honestly and with integrity, responsibility to consider what one’s actions and speeches might “trigger” in all people and the consequences of such actions.

Good grief. They never fail to disappoint.

They were showing respect to somebody who did his best. The same respect was shown to Rishi Sunak, who also did his best. What would the world be like if people stopped being human and recognising that on their departure.
