Farage is doing this because he wants to be elected by hook and by crook. He doesn’t mind if his competitor is Binface, because if Binface loses Farage will be elected and will become more powerful anyway. So, personally, I’m hoping that Binface wins the day.

Indeed, Foxie. I suspect the reason he doesn't claim is because any personal accommodation, personal travelling and other costs are being paid for by his donors to meet the very opulent lifestyle he enjoys.

No, Farage wasn't shy about sclaiming expenses as an MEP. He boasted at having claimed more than £2m !

I should say, CLG that presupposes he had a second home in London and I’m not sure that he does but he could, in theory, claim expenses for a second home.

However, there is a provision for an MP to claim expenses for a second residence if their main constituency home is more than 20 miles from Westminster, or if their commute takes more than 60 minutes.

Frinton (in the Clacton constituency) is a 90 minute commute from London Liverpool Street and add on say 15 minutes to get to Westminster So Farage would fall within that parameter to claim for a second home but ... he claims that the house in Frinton is his partner's so I'm not sure there that leaves him.

As an MEP he wasn't shy about claiming expenses so why not as an MP? Was it to do with the murkiness surrounding where the money to buy and renovate his various properties has come from and paying SDLT?

Its factually the case the case across the world that Jon Harvey is being recognised and reported as Farage's main contender in F’s self imposed by election campaign. It's fascinating that JH's adoption of his Count Bin Face persona and dress has captured the world's media attention. Just proves that right wing, anti immigrant rhetoric is not the only way to capture attention.

The world at large loves a David and Goliath situation and Farage is now presented with a dual challenge:
1) facing Jon Harvey/CBF as his main contender
2) coping with the world news media attention that JH/CBF is his main contender and how that pans out until 13th August in a situation that is entirely of Farage's own making

Perhaps Farage is feeling this heat of this dual challenge as he has called Reform campaign activists to surge and come and help him in Clacton That infers Farage feels he needs the lions share of activist support more than the the con current Greater Manchester Mayoral election candidate? Priorities, priorities- and clearly Farage does not think he is guaranteed voting success at Clacton on either his record to date- or as himself in his current situation.

Farage/Reform has £. lots of money at his campaign disposal. It's exciting and equitable that people are coming forward with £ donations to support John Harvey/CBF in his campaign. We can expect some interesting posters and camping leaflets emerging from now up to 13th August 🤗

Am I correct in saying, Graphite, that there is no provision for any Members of Parliament to claim ," personal expenses"?
My understanding is that any claims must be in relation to the position. For example, anyone may claim for travel to and from London to their constituency, but may not claim the train fare to aunty's seventieth birthday celebrations.

He claimed just under £160,000 last year.

It’s over £165,000, in fact, which is he is legitimately entitled to do so why would he say he hasn’t? Why does he lie about something that is so easily to check with IPSA?

I suspect what he means is he claims no personal expenses (in fact, that’s what he said in his resignation speech) such as accommodation for himself and travel but then if he has rich donors letting him stay at their London pads and paying for him to travel in their private planes, helicopters and cars why would he need to?

Why did he not make an insurance claim for the alleged vicious attack by a mob of 50 that he claims wrote off his car but he didn’t bother to claim insurance for? By law, an incident of that kind should have been reported to the police and his insurers. So why wasn’t it? Was it because it didn’t happen?

It’s becoming a regular Reform excuse that taking dodgy money from dubious donors is saving the taxpayer money. Jenrick was doing the same thing on TV when trying to defend his own dodgy donation from Spott Fitness Ltd.
