In the immortal words of Brenda from Bristol, «Not another one!»

This is a wheeze, a dodge, a distraction, an expensive waste of time and an attempt to wriggle out of the morass he has got himself into,

My best guess is that at least some of last time's conservative voters would vote for Farage.
And most of the previous voters for Farage, would vote for him again.

My best guess is that Farage will win easily.

I don’t agree. The two previous MPs in Clacton were Tory, well til one of them crossed the floor to UKIP.

Those who voted Tory in the last GE are likely to be die hard Tories from the more affluent areas like Frinton, and they were very fond of their previous MP, who was local and very much more visible than Farage. They were very upset when due to Farage winning, he lost his seat.

Oh my goodness,
‘Actor-turned-politician Laurence Fox, of nearby Peldon, announced on Tuesday evening he would be standing against Farage, Count Binface and Adham Alkhatip, who leads the Forward Party.’ (BBC News)
Who else is going to come out of the woodwork?

Gawd! Methinks he of the conspiracy theories would be even worse than Farage.

Hmm: when was Mr Fox a politician?

He stood for Mayor of London, and has his own ‘party’ (not sure it is quite a party as we know them). It’s called Reclaim.

I am unable to work out what the result will actually be.

And how many people of Clacton will actually turn out and vote.

I read it as part of doing the job was not going to Clacton?

Me too

Well either way I knew what it meant! What a lark!

I’m hoping someone will be making and selling Count Binface posters so the whole country can get behind him.

I see that the NYT has lumped Farage in with Le Pen and the AfD.

I too love the idea of Binman winning!

Go go go Binman!

FriedGreenTomatoes, any ruling by the Parliamentary Standards committee will be published.
If there has been wrongdoing, then reference will be made to the relevant breaches of conduct. All will be open to public scrutiny.
In my career, I was accountable to my professional body, as is my GP, and my solicitor.
None of us has any say in the constituency of our professional bodies.

Trying not to think about Count Binface being the only one standing against Farage and winning!!!

I actually love that idea.

You know, I don't know a thing about him, whether he is an intelligent man or not (though I think comedians do tend to be), but if he is, he might well make a better MP than lots of those already representing us.

What's more, if he actually did want to be an MP (unlikely) and went about seriously promoting himself in Clacton, I can almost imagine a scenario where he could win this particular election and completely humiliated Farage.

A girl can dream, can't she? grin

Or perhaps I'm not good at comprehension grin

BBC: "Have you ever been to Clacton?"

Count Binface: "No, because I understand from the current incumbent that is part of how you do the job."

The campaign is going to be fun.

Have you quoted Count Binface accurately there?

It would surely make more sense if he'd said:

"No because I understand from the current incumbent that *isn't* how you do the job"

hmm

Are you going to follow him as well 😀

Quite possibly! He sounds amusing and I’d love to know more about him.

Not in a stalky way, I don’t drive around Clacton looking for Farage, though I’m aware of two places he socialising in, I won’t be visiting them, I have no desire to see him and if he’s there privately enjoying his leisure time then that’s entirely his business 🙂🙂

AGAA4 Wed 08-Jul-26 15:24:40

It sounds as though Farage has taken on more than he bargained for. Binface could make him very uncomfortable.
