You’d think so wouldn’t you M0nica, but I fear, given the demographics of the majority of those who voted him in the first instance (it was deliberately chosen for this very reason), it’s these very voters, blinded to the facts that Farage has possibly been the very worst MP they could have selected, (rarely in HoC, missing votes, rarely in Clacton, no surgeries etc), that will turn out in their droves to vote him back in. They will be outraged that he had to give that awful and sad statement and they’ll all be totally taken in, after all, good old Nige is one of them, pie and a pint in the pub! A good bloke, who listens and understands!!!!

Mr Farage is utterly deluded if he genuinely believes he’s “hounded” by our media/press.

I would suggest that as he’s the only currently serving MP (that I’m aware of) who owns a substantial share of GB News and also owns his own media company, that he can appear, at will, whenever he pleases.

Rather than being “hounded” by the media, he uses it very successfully, courting publicity whenever and however he pleases.

What “upsets” him is that he doesn’t have full control of all media/press.

He’s such an odious toad, I’m afraid I’ll laugh my head off if Count Binface won Clacton’s vote, (yes very very unlikely).

You will all be aware that I felt almost as dismayed by AB shenanigans.

Well, neither of the main parties will stand against him, and I suspect none of the middling parties (Greens, Lib Dems) will put up candidates either, so it will only be fringe parties and independents, so he is going to look a real twit campaigning against the Home Rule for Clacton and Natural Law party et al. for lack of any other competition.

Thank you for your post yesterday, LemonJam, regarding Mr Farage's allegations that newspapers have reported lies/ inaccuracies about him and have used phone tapping to obtain information.
Both of these activities could, of course, be challenged and Mr Farage could demand a full public apology for these behaviours, one of which, of course, is illegal.
He has a little money put aside, I understand, so might want to consider clearing his name by pursuing the matter, through the court process, if necessary.
Or maybe, just maybe, he's a fibber.

The Greens announced last night that they won’t be standing. Farage’s only opponents will be Count Binface and any of the other joke candidates who turn up at elections.

It just needs the Greens to ignore the so called by election and the message will have been fully sent. Farage it hasn’t worked and you look a desperate idiot. Of course an independent could stand if they have money to burn.

The statement I saw on social media seemed to say that they’d gone to the house, as any TV company might have done when looking for the chance of a story, and had been turned away. Nothing about a stakeout.

This is how it was reported earlier. Has the story changed since then?

In response to these claims from Farage that Sky News had been "harassing" his daughter, the organisation has since disclosed details around the alleged incident.

They said that reporters approached a property linked to Farage off camera and knocked on the door as part of a broadcast pool operation.

The person who answered was an adult who, they later established, was not Farage's daughter

Hardly staking out: The Sky News statement says:

Clarification: Sky News was not at the property at 7.41am. As has already been acknowledged, and as shown in the footage from 10.19am, Sky News was outside a property where Mr Farage was registered to vote at the last election. Sky News did not interact with Mr Farage’s daughter.

On a single occasion, we approached the property without a camera operator, identified ourselves as Sky News, and the adult occupant chose not to engage. We were seeking to contact Mr Farage to ask questions about the gift he accepted from Mr Cottrell. This is a well-established and routine journalistic practice when reporting on matters of legitimate public interest.

The footage clearly demonstrates that Sky News did not “hound” or pursue Mr Farage’s daughter. At no stage did we seek to speak to anyone other than Mr Farage in connection with this story.

If none of the other serious parties stand a candidate it will surely considerably diminish the amount of publicity Farage could get from this stunt. No media speculation about candidate’s chances, no need to send reporters to see how campaigns are faring, No need for vox pops, no need for any publicity at all really. Farage won’t like that at all.

And there’s always the chance that Count Binface could enjoy a huge protest vote 😆

No, no no. He was elected as an MP on 5 July 2024. If he is re-elected that investigation will continue looking at payments received in the preceding 12 months e.g the bung from Harborne and the payments made by Cottrell.

If he is re-elected he will have to declare anything received in the 12 months preceding that second date. That will encompass some payments and benefits already declared, some not declared since his last return e.g. last weekend's jaunt to Washington, whoever paid for that, and anything between the date of his resignation and re-election.

Reform won’t be allowed to pay for the by election as it would look like they are trying to buy democracy. Us mugs the taxpayers will be footing the bill. Never mind, Nigel will have super security as he can afford to pay for that.
