Infuriated by this man's attitude

Did anyone see this news story yesterday where a man blocked an 80 year old lady from using the handrail when going up the stairs from a tube station. Inexplicably he'd positioned himself against it to relax allegedly confused Hand rails are not there for that purpose. When she asked him to move because she needed the support of the rail he refused to with this comment "you can go around you've got legs!" at which point she told him she was 80 and needed the support of the handrail. I mean that's what they're actually for you moron! He then told her he was filming the interaction between them. Good! showed him up for the arse he is. At least he's been massively criticised on X for showing the clip, although it's hard to understand what makes people want to upload such material. I just hope he's outed.

My God if I was his mother watching that, I'd go the full Thatcher and handbag him for being so rude, obstructive, bloody minded and disrespectful to an elderly woman.

One day he might reach 80 and require the steadying influence of a handrail and his words may, if there's such a thing as karma, come back to haunt him when he's been obstructed hmm

I saw the video and he was an arrogant %$£* with no excuse, but she was coming up the stairs on the right.

All of the stations and undergrounds used to be keep right, and now they are keep left. Travelling through London, you are very likely to be pushed into, or even bowled over by people hurrying through if you are on the right.

Such a pity nobody helped. Or perhaps they did and that's why it didnt seem to end.

I come across this kind of attitude from those type of men every time.l get on the bus and they are sat in the disabled seats.

Not a thing wrong with them .And won't move when asked.

I have multi joint problems, use crutches to get about and a full disabled bus pass.

I'm sorry. But these types of men are full blown misogynists and arse hole to boot.

They write of it as having happened last year at 'a Metro station' so probably/possibly not in the UK.

Somebody has posted a picture of him on line in the hope that his mother, his employer, and his friends (if he has any) will be disgusted by his behaviour..

sunglow12 Mon 29-Jun-26 14:29:31

I have to hang on to the rail otherwise would not get up or down stairs now a days

PamelaMary Mon 29-Jun-26 13:53:07

Yes, I remember the woman kicked in the back and fell all the way down the stairs which is why even now I always stay within reach of the rails. Re this latest episode, I firmly believe it was a racist attack on the white 80yo woman, possibly misogynistic and ageist too.

His photo has been shown on X, one can only hope he is recognised by his mother and possible employer

Ghastly awful ignorant man! We have too many rude people!

The idea of so called social media is coming home to roost. Incidents like this just cause people to become enraged, usually against another demographic, what good does it do, none.

Maremia Mon 29-Jun-26 07:16:35

It's not so much about giving him publicity but for me at least, a warning that this anti social trend exists.
Posters have now described similar incidents.

Once I had been in the basement of Princes Street M & S and went to go up the staircase to street level. There was a crowd round the bottom of it, and although the stairs are wide enough for two people to easily walk up side by side, they were going up in single file, which caused congestion and delay.

As I got nearer I could see why - a middle aged man was standing just below the bottom step with his back to the side, and one leg stetched out across the bottom step with his foot up. The staircase was reduced to half width so that the crowd was taking twice as long to pass him, and more people were joining it faster than it dispersed.

Eventually I reached the bottleneck. As I passed I stepped heavily on that extended foot - it was swiftly withdrawn and the passage cleared!!

You are all giving this person the 15 minutes of fame they wanted.

No. 15 minutes of shameful behaviour

Yes, you are giving his shameful behaviour 15 minutes of fame, he does not deserve it.

MT62 Sun 28-Jun-26 17:42:12

There was a trend last year on tic-toc, where a young man was stood
at the bottom of an escalator with his legs wide open so nobody could get past.
I was hoping someone would have kicked him from behind right in the nuts, but no everyone just struggled to get past this D__khead!
No doubt the one doing the kicking would have been arrested.

pably15 Sun 28-Jun-26 17:41:59

with this persons attitude, I doubt he'll manage to reach 80 years.what a horrible being.

Does anyone remember, about 10 years ago, in Berlin,
a young woman was walking down Metro steps when
a man kicked her so hard she fell all the way down the steps -
there was no one else about
there have been a few, one in Brooklyn, lady kicked
down the escalator and others
never hear of a mid twenties, 6’5” prop forward being
kicked down steps do we

He’s in the same league as that guy who pushed that woman under the bus as far I am concerned.
Imagine if that elderly lady had took a tumble down those metal stairs 😩

Or should say nearly under the bus !

Hopefully someone will publicly identify this sick individual.

And his employer and colleagues will be alerted to his post.

He has been found and named, sorry I can’t find the link.

I never saw this thankfully, I can’t stomach people disrespecting the elderly. Really glad he’s been identified. Sickening!

25Avalon Sat 27-Jun-26 17:12:29

With his attitude he is unlikely to reach 80.

What on earth possessed him to film this? Interestingly he never turned the camera on himself, must be camera shy!

They both sounded American to me…

He sounded as if he has a London accent, the woman I can’t place but would say she is English.
I think he was doing it to create outrage and film it. There are some really nasty pieces of work out there who probably do have a following.

Re the accents, yes, you’re right - the version I watched on YouTube was dubbed with American voices (from a Korean source 🤷‍♀️). I’ve since heard the original English voices.
