Where’s Nigel?

So, to lighten the mood somewhat, has anyone seen Nigel Farage of late?

Someone a week or so ago stated he’s always in Clacton on Fridays? Is he? Doing what, I ask myself? He doesn’t run surgeries or any kind of meet up or run general meetings with his constituency members, ever.

He last managed to turn up at Westminster on June 3rd, for PMQT, however prior to that he last attended a parliamentary vote on 18th March, having now (allegedly) missed 77 consecutive votes.

What is (or isn’t) this man doing to earn his not insubstantial MP salary?

Is this really the kind of politician our country needs? Are his supporters truly deluded enough to believe this man is PM material?

Seems his claim that the money was to pay for security was an excuse Meandrogog and yesterday he admitted it was a gift that could be spent on anything he wants...

All politicians face the same risks of having milk shakes/eggs etc thrown at them. Farage has experienced that twice and never had acid thrown at him. *All politicians*` need security and have access to stay security- *Farage is no different, not special and has never experienced serious harm in the way other politicians have.

There is absolutely no reason why Farage merits a £5million gift` from a political donor/benefactor.

How does being disruptive help British citizens?
I don't think it does.
I think it is unpatriotic.

Whatever makes you think Farage's agenda has EVER been "Help British Citizens"?

Farage's agenda is and always has been, enriching Nigel.

He keeps changing his story. That is a big part of the problem that some folk have with him.
He needed the gift/donation/bung for security.
Then it was for house purchase.
Then there was a Russian hack.
Then the story changed to he could buy Ferraris with it.

Harborne didn't give such a large gift to Farage without wanting something back.

Cossy: All and any gifts in the 12 months leading up to an MP must be declared!

The letter Daniel Greenberg sent to all new MPs on 5 July 2024 said:

www.parliament.uk/globalassets/documents/pcfs/advice-notes/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards---members-induction-pack-2024.pdf

The House requires Members, within one month of their election, to register all their current financial interests, and any registrable benefits (other than earnings) received in the 12 months before their election.

The main purpose of the Register is to provide information about any financial interest which a Member has, or any benefit which he or she receives, which others might reasonably consider to influence his or her actions or words as a Member of Parliament.

What Farage thinks is irrelevant. It’s what others might reasonable consider …

He took a £5 million personal gift from Harborne who had already given £10 million to the Brexit Party and would go on to donate a further £12 million to Reform (he same party with a new name). Harborne has made much of his colossal fortune from fossil fuels and crypto gambling. As an MP and leader of a political party, Farage promotes fossil fuels and crypto including generous tax policies. It doesn't take much of a stretch to consider this to be influence particularly since he claimed the payment was a reward for campaigning for Brexit.

Note the paragraph in Greenberg's letter about booking an induction meeting. I would love just one journalist to ask Farage if he bothered to do this.

Note it says: You will need to bring your laptop to your induction meeting.

Remember when he failed to declare 17 interests on time and claimed: I don’t do computers. I can come and fill in a register for you, but I don’t do computers. So I rely on other people to do those things for me.

It’s pathetic.

My apologies for the mistakes. couldn't find a way of correcting them

You could press "report" button on your error-laden post and ask to have it removed.

It's the decent thing to do, like spreading a blanket over a mangled corpse at a road crash.

Wasn’t it odd, just a few days before his lovely gift, he firmly declared he would NOT be standing, then after his kind friend gifted him a bit if dosh, he suddenly did stand 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s actually so much more than pathetic, it’s insulting, it’s arrogant and I truly hope he doesn’t get away lightly with breaking this rule! Did he even bother turning up for his induction? After all he already knows everything!

LemonJam Wed 24-Jun-26 19:42:33

Decidedly odd I agree Cossy- decidedly corrupt is the another possible (probable 🥱🤷‍♀️😡?) explanation. Await investigation findings with interest...

The point is that Farage does everything he can to avoid scrutiny because when he does his mask slips and we see what’s really behind the jolly facade…

👏👏👏👏👏 And I also don’t find him in the slightest bit “jolly”. I find his grinning face quite creepy at times, at other times chilling. It’s so clear to many people, in my opinion, his facade of “smiling man of the people” is more akin to “smiling assassin”.

He cannot even keep mates from his MEP days who joined Reform nor, it appears, his entire 7 defected from Tory MPs.

Cossy Wed 24-Jun-26 19:50:32

ronib

Farage or his admin team are proactively sending out emails about Brexit and Reform seem very focused atm.

Well it won’t be Farage will it, he doesn’t “do computers” 🙄🙄🫣🫣

Cossy Wed 24-Jun-26 19:52:00

Maremia

If Reform is still around for the next GE then of course Farage will still be in charge of that Limited Company
because
Farage is one of the owners of the Company
and
there is no mechanism for people who sign up to Reform, for voting to change its leadership.
There is no way to get rid of him.
Simple.

Sounds incredibly democratic 🤣🤣

Casdon Wed 24-Jun-26 19:59:34

Yes, Farage did turn up for the induction Cossy. I don’t know who this MP is, but he was there, and is talking about what they were told on the day. It’s a short, only last about a minute.

It may have been a gift but he has chosen to spend it on security.

I dont blame him for wanting to do that. I know all politicians face risk, but I am sure he faces much more vitriol than other politicians.

Its no use putting it in place after harm has happened!

That’s LibDem Matt Wilkinson.

335 new MPs were elected in July 2024. The inductions took place from 10 July 2024 so not all of the new MPs would have gone to the same session.

When Wilkinson. says we, I think he is talking in general about what people at his particular meeting were told but one can assume the same things were said at each meeting.

And that’s my point really, that had Farage bothered to go to an induction he would have been left in no doubt about this £5 million, or if he still was, he could have asked.

Cossy Wed 24-Jun-26 20:37:52

“Meandrogrog“

I very much doubt he has used it on security and given how very popular Reform has become I doubt he receives much vitriol from members of the public, probably more so in the HoC where he seems most unpopular.

Anyway, when did you last hear of him mingling with the public? He doesn’t run surgeries or public meetings.

Apparently he does pop up in Frinton Cricket Club and then today I read he often goes for lunch in a lovely pub in Great Bentley, which is frighteningly near our holiday home, with his minders of course.

LemonJam Wed 24-Jun-26 20:37:54

Vitriol is not a physical attack- which he claims he has faced more than any other politician- not true.

I doubt you have access to his bank accounts to know what he’s spent the £5million gift on. Farage said yesterday it’s nobody’s business. His party chair said Reform funds have been spent on security and Farage also has access to state security in the same way as other MPs in addition.

Casdon Wed 24-Jun-26 20:41:40

I asked AI, the source quoted was Reuters+4 so it is likely to be accurate.

‘Yes, Nigel Farage did attend Parliament’s inductions and initial ceremonial events. After being elected to represent Clacton in July 2024, the Reform UK leader participated in the House of Commons orientations and attended the State Opening of Parliament.’

Maremia Wed 24-Jun-26 20:41:54

If the donation/gift/bung was genuine, then why didn't Farage declare it, as he should have done?
Why did he attempt to hide an 'innocent' gift?

Delene100 Wed 24-Jun-26 20:53:35

Nigel is probably staying low as he doesn't want to answer questions concerning his £5m donation. He is hoping the question will go away. He has also kept quiet about Brexit too and hasn't said what he would have done differently to negotiate a Brexit deal. He obviously selectively forgot that the EU would have a say on how the withdrawal from the EU was going to be conducted. Seeing that he has been given £5m for his personal security, what excuse is he giving the people of Clacton for not conducting surgeries? Persons supporting Reform are being duped by this snake oil salesman. Please wake up.

Delene100 Wed 24-Jun-26 21:08:14

Well said.

The security excuse is exactly that, an excuse. Farage exposed himself yesterday. He clearly admitted yesterday he can spend it on anything he wants and clearly said it's no one's business what he spends it on......

Any reasonable person would infer that giving Farage a £5million gift to spend however he likes is buying favour...

The issue is that Farage did not declare his gift when he became an MP- he wanted to keep it a secret All the more reason to worry...

Bossy, well said.
