The difference between KS and Farage is that KS declared his gift and Farage is trying to say that he didn't need to although the rules are perfectly clear. Some glasses and a couple of suits were declared, £5million from a donor living abroad not declared. Interestingly Farage used his position as an MP to promote his donor's business interests!!

Yes. Meandrogrog, it is different, because the parliamentary rules were changed after the clothing and glasses donations.

Downing Street updated the Ministerial Code with the following changes:

Ban on clothing donations: Sir Keir Starmer, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, and Chancellor Rachel Reeves committed to no longer accepting any future donations to pay for clothing.

Increased transparency: The register of ministerial gifts and hospitality must now be published monthly rather than quarterly, and it is required to explicitly include the value of the hospitality received.

Stricter propriety: The updated Ministerial Code requires ministers to actively consider the "need to maintain the public's confidence in the standards of propriety" when deciding whether to accept gifts .

This was all discussed in parliament, and provided an opportunity for any other MPs who had not declared donations in the appropriate timescale to do so.

He still took freebies though, regardless of value. Talk about double standards!

I don't see anyone suggesting on this site or anywhere else that Farage should be the victim of violence, however, Farage and his party followers do say things that encourage violence in our communities. Following the death of Henry Nowak he stated,
"I suggest the rest of us respond to this with pure cold rage".
His words were, IMO, carefully chosen but whereas other politicians listened to Henry's parents and didn't actively encourage a violent reaction, Farage's response did and completely innocent people were victimised. Perhaps Farage would feel safer if he behaved more responsibly and less divisively. However, violence towards anyone, even Farage, is to be totally discouraged.

That was not good and has stopped but it wasn't 5 million.

Farage has nothing to fear from me and I suspect that neither does he have anything to fear from any of the other "grans" on the site. I don't hate him, I loathe him because he is morally bankrupt and I don't spread "vitriol" I merely point out that he doesn't attend the HoC , has links to Russia and accepts money from very suspect sources and doesn't declare them properly. These are facts and could not even be classed as opinion. On the other hand, Farage has made inflammatory statements that could induce some to commit harm to innocent people. I rest my case!

I'm not saying that Farage needs to fear physical violence from any of us grans! 😂

But the feelings expressed on this thread are very strong, and this will also be evident from others in the real world, so I would accept that security is probably needed for him more than for most.

The more I discover about Farage the more contempt I have for him.

Well you can see from the level of hate and vitriol on this thread why Farage would need extra security!

I've never known any other politician have a thread devoted to them so full of hate, and that's just from some grans. Transfer this to the real world and you can see why he would be in physical danger. This thread has provided the evidence.
