An atrocious attack last evening on the streets of Belfast.
Thank God for the local resident with a hurl who with help succeeded in beating the attacker away.
What is behind these attacks, what is driving men who have risked their lives to get to our shores to then behave in this way?
Is it culture, racism, MH or drugs?
I wish to understand what is happening.
No excuse for him but he probably awful things beyond our imagining.

Just heard that the Sudanese attacker was a policeman in his own country. Pity he didn’t stay there!
Apparently only for a few months and then he left

And who is so keen to prosecute the veterans of the Troubles? Who represented members of the IRA?
Starmer and Hermer.

Apparently Loyalist Paramilitaries were behind the attack on him in 2001 and its Loyalist Paramilitaries behind the house fires, ethnic pogroms and attacks on police and NHS staff who are not white. No surprise - they had their balaclavas and stashes of weapons ready behind their front doors. Loyalists/Patriots - just violent racist thugs.
I cant help wondering if they have a large part in what is happening right now, maybe we will find out in the trials, I don't want to second guess.

I wonder how technically difficult it would be to block X, if Musk refuses to delete the inciting posts?
I believe it would be possible. The problem is that it could still be accessed with a VPN, so anybody interested in keeping in touch with their groups could do so easily.
Additionally, any government blocking X would have to be very brave because there would be an outcry about "freedom of speech".

Musk junior is blatantly using X to incite rioting.

It’s appalling. The events leading up to these riots was appalling, but just like the appalling riots in Southampton it’s nothing whatsoever to do with the poor victims or their families.
It’s an excuse to protest about Asylum Seekers, it’s an excuse to cause damage and hurt to people and property.
Shame on them and shame on those provoking and encouraging this.I think it’s much much more serious and sinister than that. Robinson holed up in a hotel in Russia with Musk senior. Musk junior paying the piper and interfering with a sovereign state? The State Dept interfering. I wish it were just a few racists running amok.
It is very concerning.

Those provoking (to me) include the likes of Musk, Trump, Vance, Farage and Lowe.
All those in high positions and some funding directly the likes of Yaxley-Lennon to help do their bidding.
It’s very worrying.
I think they’re doing more than provoking - I think they’re orchestrating. And where’s Putin in all this? In the orchestra pit ?

It’s interesting that people don’t riot, or protest loudly and repeatedly when a white person attacks another white person or when a white person attacks a non-white person.
There were, quite rightly, protests about the murder of Sarah Everard but, in the main, these were relatively peaceful. I don’t recall peoples houses being burnt, missiles hurled or police attacked.
I’m very sad and sorry for all victims murdered in our country by anyone. It doesn’t matter much (to me) that the perpetrator is a non-white.
It matters that people are being murdered needlessly.

Immigrants/people of colour are apparently keeping their kids off school and trying to find a safe place to stay, they are too terrified to even speak to reporters on news programmes. And in general buses and trains are ceasing to run after early evening and businesses are finishing early.
My thoughts are with the innocent people of Belfast.
Apparently the rioters are mainly from Loyalist areas. That is not my guess but stated by Clive Myrie on the BBC News.
I absolutely agree and this needs to stop.
There were riots in Scotland too.
My view is the majority of the rioters are rent-a- thug mob like people and necessarily young people. Probably a good old mx of Yaxley-Lennon worshippers.
I agree Casdon, but I'm sure Farage and Lowe quickly demanding details of the immigration status of Monday's attacker and Musk retweeting a post by Tommy Robinson "Only by protesting REPEATEDLY and LOUDLY will there be any change!!" has real potential to trigger latent volatility....
I don’t think the agitators are all from the outside, what kircubbin2000 said above is definitely at least part of the issue. There is always volatility just under the surface in NI.
It will be interesting to see who is up before the courts and if they are already known to the authorities due to a past record. I’ve been following the court cases for the Henry Nowak rioting, and so many of those prosecuted already have criminal records.
It's simply awful Wyllow3 I agree- many are heartily fed up with outside agitators stirring up such violent thuggery.
I agree. Those poor people burnt out of their homes. How long is this thuggery going to be tolerated.
How many people and how many times can you ignore people's worries and concerns, it seems no one listens. .
I agree Galaxy. Sometimes asylum seekers can be vulnerable too.
Yesterday I supported an under age asylum seeker in a police station who was in the wrong place at the wrong time when the police carried out a raid - parents are still in the country of origin. The reasons why that teenager was in the location at the time of the raid and how lured there would sadden most.
People with learning disabilities are as lemonjam mentions often targeted by criminals, etc, they are very vulnerable members of our society and are often exploited in a range of truly awful ways.
It is important to understand the reason why and there may be a possible reprisals link back to the 2001 convictions of that criminal gang - all for the police to investigate.
