Lots on here today about the candidates for the Makerfield by election but nothing, as yet, on this huge news story from this morning. Nicola Sturgeons husband, Peter Murrell, pleads guilty to embezzling money from the SNP. Remanded into custody.
And Estee Lauder.....?
Just off the top of my head, you understand?
Yes, things like that 😂😂
Thing like onesies?
He might have worn all sorts of things I think…..🤔
Silvershadow
He might have worn a wig?
He might have worn hers in the privacy of his own home 😂
It was excellent Silvershadow. I liked the one when she was drunk dialling Angela Merkel
I remember when Tracey Ullman, on the BBC, used to do little impressions of Nicola, power suits and all. It was so funny but so like her. Did anyone else watch it?
I'm convinced she knew and helped him spend it. She's just made sure he made all the purchases in his name.
If she genuinely didn't know she must be lacking in intelligence and thinking he was a lot richer than he was. She must have noticed the funds disappearing. He's the fall guy imo.
The pen isn't a big deal as a gift, I reckon.
.
Easy to acccept that in all good faith.
I have no admiration whatever for Boris Johnson re the Covid broadcasts but I have even less for Nicola Sturgeon. She can always talk the talk, walking the walk is a different thing. Though she did walk the walk away from Murrell when the going got tough. As Joanna Cherry said, she showed “a remarkable lack of curiosity”. At best …
Nicola uses the expensive pen he bought. she has been photographed with it. Mont Blanc cost ar £4,000. might be a bit out with the cost, but damned expensive pens
To be honest I think this whole 'oh she is the grown up in the room ' is partly why this was able to go on for so long. She wasn't, it was an act.
Johnson updates where broadcast in the evening. He gave out the advice from the Medical team who appear with him.
The Devolved Countries where given that info in the morning, from Westminster.
Sturgeon just issued that daily information, and broadcasted it before him, she didn't do anything special she just read it out, and gave it the SNP interpretion.
I'm married to a Scot and my in-laws where sick of her on the TV every lunchtime.

Power corrupts and absolute corrupts absolutely was said by Disraeli, I think although I could be wrong.
Nicola Sturgeon led Scotland effectively through the pandemic and I am grateful for her leadership at that point when Boris Johnson was faffing about. However, no-one is above the law. I think she was distancing herself from this situation when she divorced him. I have heard that this is not his first offence either. I am disappointed in them both. There are many loyal SNP activists who work very hard and honestly for what they believe, so I won't badmouth the entire organisation. However, SNP has to deal with this openly and change how funds are dealt with. It's not a good look.
Boris Johnson was not faffing about. He gave daily updates, took the advice of the scientists and made sure the UK had the vaccines as soon as possible. He tried to protect us all and nearly died himself. How did he faff about?

It's not just SNP money he took. Among the £400,000+ that he took was money from UK government ie taxpayer's money.
Looks as if SNP voters are well over it now.
The Party took a bashing at the GE, but appear to have bounced back.
There's just no telling, is there.
Paddyanne, Cannot believe anyone could even consider living as you do if they had a mind of their own and free will.
Unbelievable. .
Murrel should pay all court costs back plus the 400k born by the couple.
How could the SNP have used the motorhome as a campaign bus when they claimed they didn't know it existed until the newspapers reported the police had impounded it. (Beattie changed his story but his admission is vague at best.)
Ex-SNP treasurer says he was aware of motorhome - BBC News share.google/LUIxUZwf2YQxLBjuF
The SNP thrives because of it's secrecy and zero accountability, they are mastered deception and deflection en masse. Incompetence is the very least of it.

It won't be worth half as much as they paid for it, it's been sitting in a police pound since his arrest, and will likely sit there a bit longer until he's sentenced etc.
Of course the party didn't use it, they hired a vehicle from a commercial outlet for the campaign. Beggars belief nobody, including Nicola, asked why not use the campervan the party had purchased supposedly for that very purpose.
Looks as if there were too many incompetents who didn't do their jobs.
Your last sentence sums up the SNP in one line and the welfare cost proves it. I can't find the other post that came out during the election but, apparently, Scotland spends more on benefits that we claw in on taxes. A recipe for disaster for independence. However see below for comments from Jenny Gilruth.

Which campaign?

Do you guess it was his plan to sell it on and take the money himself without the van ever being used then icanhandthemback? I wonder if it was easier to hide goods in the SNP accounts than to hide revenue expenditure?
I haven’t guessed anything, the campervan was included in the charges and he pleaded guilty because he admitted it was for his own personal use and the party did not use it. That appears to be enough for an embezzlement charge and ownership doesn’t come into it. Who knows what his ultimate intentions were.
Okay. The ownership must be pretty important to the SNP, because as it still belongs to the party they can sell it to recoup some funds, if they haven’t already.
