I can’t help wondering what would happen if he is found guilty of serious sex offences or Misconduct in Public Office. Would he go to prison? Surely that would be extremely expensive as they would no doubt have to provide 24 hour protection. Perhaps the Tower of London! This is awfulfor the Royal Family.

Doesn’t sell newspapers

For 'balance' sake, does anyone have an 'Andrew was nice and kind' sort of story?

The deference shown to members of the RF and the exemption from the FOI act. Ministers not allowed to discuss them in parliament. It is no wonder then giving AMW free reign to do as he wanted that because he is who he is he got away with what he did for so long. RF is publicly funded for doing a public job and should be publicly accountable open to scrutiny as other public bodies rightly are.

FOI exemption came about because of the many letters prince Charles wrote to ministers, wanting this and that changed, became public, Charles got annoyed and wanted exemption from FOI for RF which ministers agreed to.
There is also King's Consent which allows him to vet legislation that affects his interests before it becomes law. A Head of State is not supposed to be involved in politics.

There is a very good interview with the author and former minister Norman Baker taking about AMW on YouTube Heretics

I read Andrew Lownie's book 'Entitled' a while back and the amount of well researched dirt' about Andy and Fergie would fill the O2.ea

I read it too,he has now updated it, I will not read it, he is on so many chat shows now, seems Andrew kicked a dog in it’s head and was rude to prince Phillip who rebuked him, he was told this by a member of royal family, who would have told him this, and did the late queen have dementia in the final years of her life?

It is like comparing the Devil with Satan. In fact though, what Epstein did was actually worse than Saville by some distance, because not only was he using and abusing girls and women himself, he was preventing them leaving, and also procuring them for other men, not to mention his other criminal activities.

valdali Sat 23-May-26 19:03:46

He's 65, really I think the RF are worrying uneccessarily. Unpleasant man, but his days in the limelight would be long gone if it wasn't for this Jeffrey Epstein saga,

Epstein was a creep & abuser, but surely not as bad as Saville? & they're both dead quite a while ago.

Did you know of his behaviour before Paul Page and several others gave interviews to the press, I knew little of him until their accusations, the chap who published his book on the York said recently the late queen suffered dementia in the final years of her life

winterwhite Sat 23-May-26 15:21:49

It’s not so much sleeping around, wh is common enough, as exceptional and constant loutish, childish and arrogant behaviour that isn’t found in other members of his family.

Magenta8 Sat 23-May-26 15:21:12

Maybe Diana was taught by masters.

Anniebach Sat 23-May-26 15:11:44

Diana was a friend of Saville

Diana had no problem with the hurt she claimed she suffered being inflicted on other women

Magenta8 Sat 23-May-26 15:05:12

It is rather convenient to forget the way Charles and other members of the royal family treated Princess Diana who only started sleeping around after she found out "There were three in the marriage."

It was well documented at the time that Charles had a close friendship with Jimmy Savile.

Another acknowledged, much earlier, strong influence on Charles and possibly Andrew as well, was Lord Louis Mountbatten whose morals don't bear close examination.

Anniebach Sat 23-May-26 14:45:43

Jimmy Saville was married !

How does one know Andrew does not behave as other of his family behaves?

I tend to agree.

It appears RF aren't immune to marital infidelity, broken marriage vows. The King relied on advice of Jimmy Savile. Not morally pure, imo.

AMW predatory behaviour serves to make him outcast.

nanna8 Sat 23-May-26 14:12:22

He’s a horrible man and they should really cut him loose from their family, not just appear to do it and allow him to live in luxury.

Magenta8 Sat 23-May-26 13:41:12

Perhaps the idea of police probing makes it seem even worse.

The title of this OP sounds a bit yuk 😬🤭

I see what your mean Oreo. I think it may be because the words 'probe' and 'sex' appear in the same sentence.

Oreo Sat 23-May-26 11:31:21

I don’t imagine for one second that A will go to prison.

Thank you, you obviously read far more of the royal family than i .

I don't actually. I just read daily newspapers, listen to radio 3 and 4.

How does one know Andrew does not behave as other of his family behaves?

How many reports are there of any other frontline royal member behaving in the rude and bourish manner that seems to have been a signature feaature of AMW.

Even before recent problems AMW had a reputation for being arrogant, entitles and boorish. We had navy friends, who knew far more about his naval reputation than ever made it to the papers. Compare this with Prince Harry, who seems to have been liked and respected by those who served in the army with him.

Everything I read says that the King and consort, Prince Edward, Princess Anne and their immediate family are courteous and friendly, in private and public. This has never been said of AMW.
