The U.K. is not like Italy

We are anything but 'broken' although it suits some to say so.
Such a great variety of landscapes and traditions.

I'm doing my best to fall in love with Italy, and everything Italian, for personal reasons, (DGS plays for one of their prestigious football teams). Maybe I'll get to relocate to Milan one day!?

So, compare Parmigiano Reggiano, mozzarella, ricotta, Gorgonzola, grana Padano and mascarpone with Cheddar or Wensleydale.
And I won't even start on wines.
Oh and the olive oils.

Without doubt, the best centre for paediatric care in Europe, Great Ormond Street sends cases to the hospital in Rome.

The most beautiful language in the world, the Centre of the Roman Catholic Church, opera, Pinocchio, The Godfather, (the Mafia), etc.

Italy is the country with the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites globally, currently standing at 61. I think England has 18. Theirs are are big ones too like he Colosseum and the whole of Venice, not just the odd abbey.
Oh, and The Dolomites.

And then back to football. I think Italy has won the most World Cup titles, second only to Brazil.

BUT, at the end of a soggy day in Britain, I think, like others here, I'd always choose the UK as the most beautiful, tolerant country on this earth.

Our Royal family count for something too. The pomp and celebrations around them are a major attraction and cause for civic pride.

Both the UK and Italy are wonderful places to live and to visit, I’d have been a lot more exercised about a comparison between the UK with almost anywhere else. One difference is that Italians don’t seem to constantly complain about everything in their country, whereas Brits are serial moaners.

It fits the far-right agenda to make out we're having a terrible time here in the UK. Crime rife in London, sharia law governing everything we do, knife crime, young people running rampant, you wouldn't believe some of the stuff put out on line that causes mass anxiety and near hysteria.

Meanwhile we can just get on with our orderly lives and be grateful we don't live in this imaginary hell-hole.

The UK is a wonderful country with a long and fascinating history. It has many very beautiful, in fact stunning, areas. Mostly the people are also welcoming and open minded. I won’t get into the politicians except to say you deserve better.

The UK may bid for the Olympics in 20240, although I doubt I will be here to see that.

Although we have so much to offer, what we do need to do is to Clean up Britain. Our lovely country is turning into a rubbish tip and it is truly depressing; I don't know who these people are who flytip and dump litter everywhere but they have no pride.
When we have found the culprits, perhaps they should be made to Clean up Britain, sort out the filth and make our lovely country a green and pleasant land again.

I agree, I adore the U.K., particularly London.

The theatres and restaurants in London are exemplary, the museums, Tower of London, art galleries.

Parks and gardens which put on summer concerts, plays and food events.

Edinburgh has much to offer, as does Cardiff.

Our Architecture is amazing, time to celebrate instead of complaining.

The moors, the lakes and our coastline are varied and unique. I do love a pier I am 10 minutes (traffic allowing) from the longest pier in the world, I also love Southwold’s quirky pier.

I have lived abroad, and travelled all over the world but I am always so pleased and comforted when the plane/ship/train arrives back.

They say home is where the heart is, and mine is firmly planted in England.

Where our politicians certainly need improve and do the job they've been given and stop all the changing of PMs I do get tired of people putting our country down. For all the reasons "Whitewave* mentions above and more we should be proud to be British.
