Just seen in the news that the Met re deploying 4,000 extra police officers in London tomorrow, including armoured vehicles on standby.

If they are that concerned why haven’t they taken action to stop these marches or made them into standing rally’s in contained areas?

Our beautiful capital city once more rendered a no go zone.

Added into the mix it’s also the F A Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

All in the week when London has been named the number one city in the world for culture 🤦‍♀️

I don't believe they will be well treated. There is no evidence of humane treatment there and they know that so they are brave.

Maremia Tue 19-May-26 13:06:36

Brave woman. Hope she is released soon. And all the others.

Maremia Tue 19-May-26 13:00:37

They are brave to face the treatment meted out to any held captive, by that armed force, as witnessed by Palestinians who have been imprisoned by them.
As witnessed by the abuse suffered by Greta Thunberg.

Oreo Tue 19-May-26 12:39:14

They all know they will never reach Gaza and will be detained, there’s no bravery involved.
They’re also well treated and sent home.

Maremia Tue 19-May-26 12:07:38

Brave to do that.

Kidnapped! That is shocking.

Well, she did know it was a possibility, of course, and took that risk to do what she thought was right, as the video recording was made before she was detained.

Maremia Tue 19-May-26 11:53:22

It is concerning.
But, from all reports, the numbers are down compared to the last march.
So, if you take away the 'innocent' marchers, who are not in tune with any racism, racism, the numbers are even lower.
All depends on how many folk were simply protesting, and on a family day out.

Maremia Tue 19-May-26 11:48:46

I hope they are treated humanely.

foxie48 Tue 19-May-26 11:47:33

IMHO Islamophobia and anti semitism are different aspects of the same thing ie racism . The Klu Klux clan believed in white supremacy and focused on skin colour rather than religion but they still saw minority groups like Jews, Roman Catholics, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community as well as black Americans as inferior and white protestants as superior. I have a feeling that if you scratched the surface of Unite the Kingdom, you would find many aspects of white supremacy. Certainly the Nationalistic tone, flag waving and link to Nationalistic Christianity should act as a concern.

A Poster zapped?

GG13 we are talking about this Thread.

Correct, so where exactly is the antisemitism on this thread or any other please?

Where has anybody, ever said horrible things about Jewish people, agreed with hatred and violence? Where?

Dr Margaret Connolly sister of the Irish President Catherine Connolly has been kidnapped in international waters by the IOF along with others in several boats from the Global Sumud Flotilla.

In her video, Dr Connolly said: “If you are watching this video, it means I have been kidnapped from my boat in the flotilla by the Israeli occupying forces, and I’m now being held illegally in an Israeli prison.

“I am so proud to be taking part in this flotilla -it is the largest to date.”

She added: “I feel utterly compelled – as a mother, a doctor, and as a human being – to help in this flotilla.

“The cause of Palestine is the moral compass of our time, it is what makes us human. Their humanity is our humanity.”

Maremia Tue 19-May-26 11:31:15

There is no evidence of anti semitism on this Thread.
We would all have reported such a post.

sixandahalf do you know that Oreo is Jewish?

I think she knows a fair bit about antisemitism, not just in her head…

We have foxie, and it was worth re-reading to see if any of the accusations against it were factual.
Couldn't find any evidence to support them.

Your comments boil down to Unite the Kingdom all bad and the pro Palestine people all good.
I have rarely read such naive and unbalanced comments.
There were good people on both those marches and bad ones too.

You clearly have not read my post properly but never mind, other people have and that is all that matters.

LizzieDrip Tue 19-May-26 10:57:42

Respectfully, I have to strongly disagree with some of the voices on this site believing any other person on this site is antisemitic, as I just do not believe this to be true

I agree Cossy.

I personally can’t recall reading any antisemitic posts on here.

Posters voice their disagreement with the actions of the Israeli government towards the Palestinian people but, as has been explained many times, that is not antisemitic - it is not about ‘hatred’ of all Jewish people.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 19-May-26 10:53:24

Unite - racism by any other name stinks as foul.

AGAA4 Tue 19-May-26 10:49:29

If there were good people on the unite the kingdom march they must have been very naive not to know what it was about.
I have heard thoughts from people I would never expect to be anti Muslim and antisemitic. There are a lot out there from different sections of society. People don't seem to keep their racism to themselves now and I believe many of them were on the unite match.

Oreo Don't twist what I posted. I didn't say it's always Jews being provocative just this man. I have and always will support Jews against antisemitism for reasons of my own.

As do most of us here on Gransnet, despite some people continuously stating the opposite.

My stance is that whenever there’s any protest march, for whatever reason, a small percentage antagonists, simply turning up to stir the pot.

I have no doubts that both of the recent marches had these types, in the minority, in their marches.

My own beliefs and values would prevent me marching under any “banner” organised and led by the likes of YL.

I completely understand that there are a large percentage of British people completely dissatisfied with their lives currently and they are frustrated and do feel “not listened to”, but to frame this as “a fear for their country’s identity” is meaningless.

There are lots of things “Mr/Mrs Normal/Average” can do to change or at least attempt to change things they feel are holding them back, they can lobby, their MPs, they can join groups in their communities, they can change jobs or move house or do any number of things, which don’t include blaming all non-whites and non-Christians and Asylum Seekers for the many issues our country undoubtedly faces.

I have no doubt that there were unruly nasty people in both groups of marches.

Respectfully, I have to strongly disagree with some of the voices on this site believing any other person on this site is antisemitic, as I just do not believe this to be true.
