Just seen in the news that the Met re deploying 4,000 extra police officers in London tomorrow, including armoured vehicles on standby.

If they are that concerned why haven’t they taken action to stop these marches or made them into standing rally’s in contained areas?

Our beautiful capital city once more rendered a no go zone.

Added into the mix it’s also the F A Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

All in the week when London has been named the number one city in the world for culture 🤦‍♀️

The flags do not belong to Yaxley-Lennon and his thugs even if he tries to claim them. They belong to us all in this nation.

Oh, FGS, Allira. I know that. I've been British for 75 years, since birth.

I'm left of centre (you may have noticed) and I'd have no qualms at all about flying it in an appropriate context. Nor would most people, I'm sure. Crying victim for being 'slightly right of centre' is disingenuous.

Any one slightly right of centre and in possession of a UK flag, particularly the English or Union flag, is now a far right extremist.

I think you are being disingenuous, GG13.

You surely know very well what the flag waving is all about in this context. These aren't people who are 'slightly right of centre'

Additionally, I don't think 'slightly right of centre' people would even consider joining a march organised by Yaxley Lennon. I think it's sad that you are trying to defend them.

Oh I am definitely not defending Robinson/Yaxley

If as it appears be, it’s ok to march carrying a Palestinian flag despite not being Palestinian at marches here in the UK, then it’s ok to carry the Union Flag and/or any of the three nations national flag without being accused of being far right.

It all comes down to freedom of speech and rights…

GrannyGravy is not trying to defend the marchers not is she being disingenuous.

He resides in Spain anyway.

Thank you Primrose53. Twaddle accused me of bullying which I was definitely not doing. Pot and kettle springs to mind

Everybody knows what those flags mean today
No, you are wrong about this twaddle.

Believe what you like but not everybody thinks that at all. Just because some right-wing extremists think they can claim the flag as theirs does not make it so.

Do other countries have this problem?

Is it only some British people who wear hair shirts and feel unwarranted guilt when they see a Union flag or those of other countries of the UK flying?
Strange that the same people are happy to see a Palestinian flag carried through the streets of London.

The flags do not belong to Yaxley-Lennon and the far right.
They belong to us all.

Exactly, and twaddle is also wrong to say that there are racists on this thread.I have gone through every post and there is no such thing at all.
A lie doesn’t help their case.

Well said Oreo.

It is unpleasant, unfair and very offensive to say people on here are racists. Also note that nobody replies to those comments with offensive remarks.

There is no evidence of bullying either.

Allira it’s definitely not our best offering mind you the artist is so full of energy and enthusiasm despite having a five week old baby.

I bet his wife's not so perky, especially if he's busy elsewhere.

I should have got out my Union Flag bunting for the Cup Final
But I'm not watching it anyway 😁

I remember dressing a very young DD as Britannia for a fancy dress competition years ago, oh dear, what was I thinking!

There are a fair few Union Flags along with Union Flag adorned clothing at Eurovision.

It's only the song which is an embarrassment, then! 😁

Thanks for that info Oreo 👍

Goes to show that it’s not a good idea to pre-judge and label folks.

The BBC say that they have spoken to many on the Unite march and there are lots of reasons people are there besides those who agree with TR.
Ordinary people who are unhappy with lots of things happening in the UK.
Ditto those on the Palestine march too, CND, and all sorts.
Apparently a positive atmosphere on the Unite the Kingdom one according to the news just now which is good.

GrannyGravy, I couldn't care less how many flags you own, but I find the faux naivety about what flying them en masse in public means a little disturbing.

As it happens the only flags at Gravy Grange are in the form of bunting.

Some of which is Union Jack, some is Happy Birthday, and some is just patterned.

Oh and please do not assume I am naive, faux or otherwise.

Thank you 👍

Robinson/Yaxley-Lennon is a thug in my opinion.

I also think that chants of Global intifada on the pro-Palestine gatherings are just as dangerous and concerning as those draping themselves in the flag of my country…

Extremists on both sides.

Perhaps eazybee is right, these marches should be stopped.

Peaceful protest is one thing but allowing these extremists of any persuasion to march through our streets spewing hatred is on a different level altogether.

This is what I mean about gaslighting people.

It's not pleasant.

Any one slightly right of centre and in possession of a UK flag, particularly the English or Union flag, is now a far right extremist.

What I find very sad is that the reason I love my country (UK) is that it is supposed to be tolerant, inclusive and welcoming of free speech. Unfortunately, given the number of people who have attempted to gaslight those who don't like all the flag-waving and are intolerant of opposing views, it would appear that the reason I love my country is not true.

JaneJudge Sat 16-May-26 16:34:40

why have people not realised he is a fake. Why does nobody question who he is and where he lives?

As I said above, nationalists, who are left wing, wave the national flags of Scotland and Wales too. It’s not solely a right wing phenomenon, a flag is a too easy slogan to adopt to try to get people to support your cause, whatever that is.

Galaxy Sat 16-May-26 16:11:13

Well, yes, but as far right has been rendered absolutely meaningless, I am not sure where that leaves us.
