Polanski again!

It seems Green Party leader Zack Polanski has apologised for an "unintentional mistake" after admitting he failed to pay the correct council tax while living on a houseboat in east London. He was registered on the electoral roll at the marina address - but told reporters he only stayed there "occasionally."
Tax lawyer Dan Neidle says the evidence points to the narrowboat being his main residence, meaning Polanski either owes unpaid council tax or potentially committed a criminal offence by registering to vote at an address he did not actually live at.
The Green Party leader who campaigns on fairness — caught dodging his own council tax bill?
How many more skeletons are in his closet?

A very unpleasant tone in these comments.

I'm not a Polanski fan but come on...council tax on a houseboat??

Billionairres are praised to the rafters for tax avoidance, Polanski paid up and he's still being villified.

What dreadful double standards some people have...

Billionnaires praised for tax avoidance? in my dreams. All I hear is people complaining that billionaires (how many are there actually) and generic 'rich' people do not pay enough tax and need to pay more.

Polanski has told petty lies about his career, had a distinclty dodgy past occupation and is now found not to have been paying council tax. To misquote Lady Bracknell, To make one mistake Mr. Polanski may be regarded as a misfortune; to make two mistakes looks like carelessness.

Do we really want in government someone who despite having political ambitions constantly makes those petty little mistakes that can kybosh a political career.

Thisis not vilification. it is expressing doubts about the judgement of someone who aspires to high office.

1. He’s only paid up because he was found out.
2. He’s running for public office
3. He doesn’t know what a woman is.

Farage and this 5 million gift is taking up as much media attention as anything to do with Polanski.
Just today there have been five mentions of it on different sources.

How Polanski not paying his council tax is taking up so much more media energy than Farage’s undeclared £5m is a puzzle, given Polanski is not even an MP. I smell the rats in the sewers.

Are you a Green supporter by any chance?
There’s room for doubts about both Polanski and Farage.
Both cut from the same cloth in many ways.

...because it's sheer hypocrisy

Thanks MawsRosie and Iam64. I had thought that was the case, but a Poster upthread wasn't very sure about his claim.

That was me, also Jewish btw.
It was a tongue in cheek reaction to all his many claims that have turned out to be fairy stories.

MawsRosie, one look and listen to Mr Polanski had me convinced grubby secrets will emerge.

I agree he does look grubby, like he needs a bath, clean clothes and a visit to the dentist, and now his 'grubby dishonest' secrets are coming out.

the young love him, this is how un intelligent the country has become

M0nica Wed 13-May-26 14:29:36

His name at birth was David Paulden. The family name in previous generations was Polanski, but it was changed in order to blend in to British society.

Given his relative youth, his political ambitions must be of long standing and it is worrying to think that someone who from a young age had parliamentay ambitions was too clueless to realise early on that the kind of petty aggrandisements he indulged in and risible beauty scams, let alone not paying his council tax. was bound to be found out and used against him.

It is not that all politicians are white sheep. Are any of us? It is the particular sins they commit and lying, particularly sereial lying has always been one of the most unacceptable sins.

No, probably not, but they should be setting an example surely!

WithNobsOnIt Wed 13-May-26 14:18:02

Have asked this question. before.

Comment about hypnosis and Women's breasts tell you all.your need to know about him. Dear me.Tut tut.Sounds like an seven year old.

The lefties critisise others then do it themselves. The right are openly on the side of the worker to keep as much of their own money as possible as long as it's legal. Farages £5m has just been on the TV - he was under no obligation to declare it.

Right, of course, that must be why the Parliamentary Standards and likely the Electoral Commission have enough evidence to investigate it then, because there’s absolutely nothing to see, it’s all a stitch up.

Has anyone caught the whisper about another secret donation to Farage? One million this time. A one time ally dishing the dirt?
Saw again those disgraceful 'cartoons' about Polanski. I have no idea if he is Jewish, his own business, but some hideous person/people think he is.

He was born David Paulden on 2 November 1982 in Salford, Hideous people?

His Jewish ancestors had moved to the UK from Poland to escape the occupation by Nazi Germany, but originated from Latvia which they fled to escape pogroms (initially to Ukraine, then to Poland) in the early twentieth century. The family adopted the surname of Paulden hoping to evade antisemitism His parents divorced when he was 11.

Thanks, I was about to post this. Polanski grew up with parents who practiced their faith. He went to the Jewish High School in his area. He left his faith behind but decided to reclaim their original last name .
I have Jewish friends from a similar area who adopted English last names in the hope of avoiding the anti semitism that drove them out of Europe into the UK.

I have to agree, given the fury at Rayner as well!

Yes. Graphite has mentioned the donation on another thread.

It’s on Reddit and a load of other sites, but nothing official. If it is true and there is evidence, it’s election fraud, and both of them could end up in prison.

Both end up in prison?

You're having a laugh, aren't you? The nations two favourite politicians? No chance...

Of course, Polanski might end up doing a stretch for forgetting to pay his council tax. Because no-one has ever done that before, have they?
