Yesterday Sam Coates on Sky News referred to some photographs of Keir Starmer smiling as “government propaganda” and “fake news”.

Yet more new depths plummeted by the UK media - not even attempting to hide their bias now. I feel despondent.

The Press doesn't need to create dramas at present about the Labour party, it is creating all its own.

I have to agree with Ade Edmonson who said, "The mainstream media are creating the news, not reporting it." I paraphrase but that's the gist. The media exists nowadays to sell itself and is available 24 hours a day, therefore runs out of actual news, so creates dramas.

People on Gransnet were happy enough to gloat over Boris Johnson's misdemeanours, including recordings of private conversations.
Now the position is reversed, suddenly it is wrong.

With all due respect eazybee I wasn’t talking about Gransnet or other forums but political reporters of some repute working for the BBC etc.
What is said by ordinary people is not broadcast to the whole nation.

You obviously missed the media machine maligning previous PM’s and their ministers…

We can’t foresee what the electorate will think in 2029. But don’t the markets take over? Isn’t it the Bank of England who will decide whether Starmer stays or goes?

The one namer being talked up is Streeting. Im not sure is he going to be a strong leader, or is he going to be the least worse option.

I agree absolutely. I hate to think of who will replace Starmer as there's just no-one I recognise as PM material. I'm terrified to think of that idiot Lammy or the drunken Rayner being considered. How has it come to this?

I can't blame Jess Philips for resigning after he rather insulted her by appointing Harman.
If you read her resignation letter it gives an example of his reluctance to take any firm and speedy steps to improve safety for young people.

Oreo, the media attack stuff is not nonsense. It started from the moment Starmer became P.M.. There has been constant negative reporting , all reflected on this site .

Absolutely, the media has been relentless with the Daily Mail just hounding Starmer from day one.
This is how Trump got in as the news ( Fox News in particular) had the same agenda with the attacks on Biden.
This is how money is made by these news organizations.
So if the UK doesn’t watch out you could end up with a leader that is beholden to the billionares of the world .
Trump barely even hides it anymore.

I can’t agree, if it were just aspects of the media and Starmer had been a really good PM their grumblings in print wouldn’t have cut the mustard.

I’ve complained to Ofcom about Sam Coates’ comments at 5.20pm outside No 10.

He referred to some photographs of the PM as ‘government propaganda’ and said ‘you’re looking at fake news pictures’.

The photographs were actually Associated Press pictures (rather than No 10 pictures) which Coates later acknowledged … but he still didn’t apologise for essentially slandering the UK government.

Coates, we know you hate KS, but you’re allegedly a ‘political journalist’ … at least try and pretend to show a bit of balance.

The Sky News political reporters appear to have deteriorated into sad pastiches of themselves.

Why people think a change of leadership will miraculously mean a booming economy beats me. Yes Starmer is a disappointing stuffed shirt who lacks charisma, but what this country needs is a bit of stability, not yet another leadership contest leading to yet another disappointment, stirred up by the media. Im just grateful he didn’t have his nose up Trumps backside , unlike some of his opponents, and drag is into a ridiculous war.

I just saw a clip of Anne Widdecombe saying that in the past there were just two main parties but now there is a serious contender in Reform and people are voting for them because they are fed up with both Labour and Conservatives and want change. She is a wise old owl and yes, I do know she is in Reform.

She’s an awful woman who believes Gay people should all undergo “correction therapy” or whatever it’s called?

Which family is that? His new one or the one he walked out on? As for being a buffoon, it wasn’t a good look seeing him at international functions with his shirt hanging out. Fiddling about with umbrellas and rambling on about Peppa Pig when giving talks…he was a total embarrassment on the world stage.

Why not look forward instead of backwards? Boris has long gone.

You should be worried about who could replace Starmer. Imagine the horrendous Angela Rayner. Can you see her on the world stage! At least Boris was welcomed by other countries and was well educated and very intelligent.
