Police kicking people in the head wasn,t OK when it happened in the United States and it’s NOT OK here.Police here are supposed to be trained to deal with all situations without resorting to thuggish behaviour.
Or is that no longer how police are trained in England?Before we know it they,ll be carrying guns d shooting folk in the back.
Better get this under control before you all regret saying it’s ok

Perhaps, as in other countries, more police need to be armed to keep the public safe from terrorists and other violent criminals on our streets.

If these police weren’t English I apologise I didn’t realise police forces were being bussed in I spent over 40 years working around Scottish police personnel .They were very proud of the day the Washington Post reported on a visit to SCotland and how the Scottish police could deal with even violenceetc on the streets WITHOUT Resorting to violence BECAUSE of the training they received.. when in the same circumstances the guy would be on his face with a gun in his back.
So again why were these ENGLISH officers not trained to deal with one mentally ill man without kicking him in the head.?
I hope it’s doesn’t become norm …for all our sakes

Is this cartoon antisemitic? Nor a DM fan but the paper has a track record of othering people of diverse ethnicity or religion other than CofE. Not right in Zack's case, not right in Priti Pate,. Megan Markle & others' cases.

He is Jewish but allows his Party to be filled with all kinds, including very antisemitic people and he turns a blind eye to them.

Zach Polanski comes across as genuine and speaks his mind. Much needed nowadays. It is ironic that he is being accused of being antisemitic when he is Jewish himself. I've also just seen a Rabbi speaking out in his favour.

I think the Police did everything they could to disarm him and as he could have had a home made bomb in his backpack I couldn’t care less if they kicked him.

I've watched the police cams, I don't think kicking in the head was necessary. Tasering is surely enough.

How did you miss the knife man being tasered.
When someone is pumped up as much as the would be killer you don’t necessarily drop straight away.

It's funny and Steve Bell has a history of using other religions in his cartoons. So it's no more insulting than the others.
Steve Bell has drawn cartoons which insult practically every main religion you can think of. They all probably had members who were upset about this, but there is no legislation to protect religious beliefs (thank goodness).

Cartoonists have a long history of mocking political leaders, Should they be censored for fear of causing offence ? Even when there is no evidence of offence being caused?

Our local Greens are popular generally and mostly climate orientated:
Our council is shared by LibDems/Labour and Greens.
They are very involved in setting up free advice centres on all things recycling and houses getting solar panels etc, council funded and volunteers.

Long may it stay that way.

I am not defending these cartoons in any way shape or form, I think they are hideous and antisemitic

I do find it rather odd that when I was against Priti Patel being depicted as a bull complete with a ring through her nose due to the fact that she was raised as a Hindu, and cows/bulls are sacred in their faith. This was in my opinion also hideous and disrespectful to all Hindus.

I was told repeatedly on the N & P thread at the time that it was political satire and therefore acceptable…

The insults about Priti Patel were equally abhorrent, I agree. Just as abhorrent as the insulting names Keir Starmer has been called online and in the MSM.

All this should stop - regardless of political affiliation. Criticise the policy … not the person!

Boz, nothing to do with his face, its what comes out of his mouth and what he thinks that’s the problem. I heard him speak this morning, who would consider him? He has a history of lies but says he has changed. I think not. Do think. people, whatever race or religion should be more integrated into society and not into a small area.
Wyllow 3, you discredit our police and if tasering twice causes cardiac arrest but saves innocent lives and is the only way to stop a killer, so be it. As for listening to Polenski why listen to a liar.

Must say that I am very alarmed by what he says and think that a lot of the candidates for the Greens are a massive worry.Very antisemitic and also downright ignorant people.Considering they may be running councils and affecting lives locally I have to hope they won’t do as well as expected .
I read that half of Londoners will be voting for them, which fits with half of London being a heady mix of head in the clouds professionals, woolly liberals, LGBTQ+ activists, trans activists and those who are reared hating Jews.

The Muslim was known to him, a 'friend' who lived in the same area. The Jews were random strangers that he made a 40 minute journey to a predominantly Jewish area to select. He had a dispute with the fellow Muslim, he didn't even know the Jews. The police would not have known about the earlier Muslim victim, their knowledge extended to the two Jewish men that had been attacked. Hindsight is so brilliant isn't it?

But how was it in the least way relevant to what the police officers were dealing with, the knowledge they had? I'd suggest not at all.

^I do support the police in general, but like our Armed Forces, they are highly trained to deal with and defuse situations such as the one they were dealing with, they are not brave, they are doing the job they’ve been trained to do and are paid to do.^

Thanks Allira, I was angry that anyone could so easily dismiss the courage our police and military need because ‘they know what they’re facing and what they signed up for’. I have clear memories of my dad coming home from work with awful facial injuries and of the night when he was one of the senior officers called in after the aBombing in the Manchester Arndale centre, praying he’d come home safe.

Instead of reacting with anger...why don't you read all of my post Allira? I was commenting on what the original post was asking ie the causes of people who react with such anger and violence. It doesn't represent what I think or do. But it does represent, as we can all see why some are reacting with such violence. It doesn't mean I agree with it but there is a correlation between the two.
